One of my clients once shared this beautiful and honest moment from her life.
She said,
One day my son asked me, ‘Mama, how does rain happen?’
I got so excited — I thought what a perfect moment to teach him! So I began explaining the whole water cycle — evaporation, condensation, Allah’s blessings, how rain brings life to the earth… I was on a roll!
She smiled and continued,
He listened quietly for a while, then looked at me and said, *‘Mama, aap kitna bolti hain!’*
I stopped. For a moment, I didn’t know whether to laugh or feel embarrassed — but deep inside, I knew he was right.
She said,
That day I realized — sometimes children don’t need a lecture; they just need a simple answer, or just our attention. They want to be heard, not taught all the time.
Later, during one of our sessions in the *Mindful Mothers course*, she said she finally understood what *active listening* really means *Tarbiyah isn’t about how much I talk; it’s about how deeply I connect.*
