📢 PESCON 2025 Pre-Conference Workshop

Tackling Obesity: A Practical, Evidence-Based Approach

The Pakistan Endocrine Society (PES) successfully held its pre-conference workshop, “Tackling Obesity: A Practical, Evidence-Based Approach,” on October 11, 2025, at CIME, Aga Khan University Hospital.

Led by Dr. Azra Rizwan, the workshop brought together leading experts — Dr. Tehmina Rashid, Dr. Asma Ahmed, Dr. Hira Mukhtar, and Dr. Usama Iqbal — who shared insights on lifestyle medicine, pharmacotherapy, behavioral strategies, and metabolic surgery for effective obesity management.

An interactive group case discussion, moderated by Dr. Heer Dilawar, featured facilitators Dr. Erum Sohail (JPMC), Dr. Saima Askari (BIDE), Dr. Sumaira Batool (AKUH), and Dr. Sumaira Jabeen (Indus Hospital & Health Network), promoting hands-on, scenario-based learning.

The expert panel — Prof. Musarrat Riaz, Dr. Surrendar Dawani, Dr. Salma Siddiqui, and Dr. Aziz Jiwani — enriched the dialogue with multidisciplinary perspectives.

The event brought together healthcare professionals from multiple disciplines to share insights on managing obesity through nutrition, psychology, pharmacotherapy, and surgical interventions.

Ms. Zeina Younes discussed healthy dietary options and lifestyle modifications.

Dr. Israr explored the psychology of eating behaviors.

Prof. Dr. A.H. Amir shared global trends and pharmacotherapy updates.

Dr. Adil Bangash elaborated on patient selection for bariatric surgery.
