**A Landmark Achievement in Breast Cancer Treatment at PAF-JPMC**
In a monumental step towards revolutionizing cancer care, the Edhi Foundation has generously funded $4 million worth of advanced breast cancer treatment equipment for PAF-JPMC’s Breast Radiation Bay in Karachi. The Bilquis & Abdul Sattar Edhi-Breast Radiation Bay, set to begin operations in April 2026, will be a beacon of hope for thousands of women battling breast cancer. Managed in partnership with the Patients’ Aid Foundation (PAF) and the Sindh government, the facility will provide free, cutting-edge breast cancer treatment to approximately 160 patients daily.
A historic milestone for Pakistan, the facility will house Helix Tomotherapy units, offering precision treatment that effectively targets cancerous cells while safeguarding healthy tissues, especially the heart. For the first time in the country, modern radiotherapy techniques like Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) and Deep Inhalation Breath Hold (DIBH) will be available, ensuring improved safety and outcomes, particularly for younger women.
Unwavering commitment from the PAF-JPMC team, led by Dr. Tariq Mehmood, has been instrumental in making this vision a reality. Support from the Sindh government further ensures long-term sustainability, with funding committed for the maintenance of this groundbreaking equipment beyond its warranty period.
With Pakistan recording nearly 30,000 new breast cancer cases annually, this initiative is nothing short of life-changing. In the blessed last ten days of Ramzan, when generosity and compassion are at their peak, this incredible development serves as a ray of hope for countless families. PAF-JPMC continues to redefine healthcare accessibility, proving that when great minds and generous hearts come together, miracles happen.
