Salam,

During the final Ashra of Ramzan 2026, the Muslim Ummah finds itself weighed by sorrow. Across the Middle East, the suffering inflicted by war has left deep wounds—homes destroyed, lives lost, and hearts broken. These are times that test the spirit, when the weight of what others endure becomes a quiet burden carried by us all.

Yet even in grief, there is resolve. Here in Pakistan, this holy month has witnessed an unprecedented outpouring of compassion, Mash'Allah. Despite our own hardships, the generosity shown toward the Patients' Aid Foundation has been remarkable. Donations have poured in—not from abundance, but from a deep-seated commitment to ease the suffering of others, however far or near.

In supporting ailing patients at JPMC, Pakistanis have demonstrated that charity knows no borders. When we cannot reach those wounded across distant lands, we tend to those at our doorstep. It is a small but profound act of solidarity—a way of saying that every life matters, every ache is felt, and no one heals alone.

As the blessed month draws to a close, Insh'Allah, we will carry forward this spirit. For in giving, we find strength. In serving, we find meaning. And in standing together, we honor not only those we help, but those we wish we could.

Muhammad Hashim, a resident of Dadu, presented at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre with a brain tumor that had been causing recurring dizziness and episodes of unconsciousness. Following thorough evaluation, he underwent successful treatment in the CyberKnife unit 2.

This life-changing procedure was made possible through the generous support of Nayyar and Yaqoob Ahmed of Artistic Milliners, whose continued philanthropy enables patients like Hashim to receive advanced medical care regardless of their ability to pay. Today, he has returned home with restored health and renewed hope—a reflection of what compassionate healthcare and community support can achieve.

We remain profoundly grateful to all our donors who make such treatments accessible at JPMC, transforming lives in ways both lasting and meaningful.

**A Landmark Achievement in Breast Cancer Treatment at PAF-JPMC**

In a monumental step towards revolutionizing cancer care, the Edhi Foundation has generously funded $4 million worth of advanced breast cancer treatment equipment for PAF-JPMC’s Breast Radiation Bay in Karachi. The Bilquis & Abdul Sattar Edhi-Breast Radiation Bay, set to begin operations in April 2026, will be a beacon of hope for thousands of women battling breast cancer. Managed in partnership with the Patients’ Aid Foundation (PAF) and the Sindh government, the facility will provide free, cutting-edge breast cancer treatment to approximately 160 patients daily.

A historic milestone for Pakistan, the facility will house Helix Tomotherapy units, offering precision treatment that effectively targets cancerous cells while safeguarding healthy tissues, especially the heart. For the first time in the country, modern radiotherapy techniques like Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) and Deep Inhalation Breath Hold (DIBH) will be available, ensuring improved safety and outcomes, particularly for younger women.

Unwavering commitment from the PAF-JPMC team, led by Dr. Tariq Mehmood, has been instrumental in making this vision a reality. Support from the Sindh government further ensures long-term sustainability, with funding committed for the maintenance of this groundbreaking equipment beyond its warranty period.

With Pakistan recording nearly 30,000 new breast cancer cases annually, this initiative is nothing short of life-changing. In the blessed last ten days of Ramzan, when generosity and compassion are at their peak, this incredible development serves as a ray of hope for countless families. PAF-JPMC continues to redefine healthcare accessibility, proving that when great minds and generous hearts come together, miracles happen.
