It's been a while since Arundhati Roy's scorching, authentic voice has challenged our emotional comfort zones. This is certainly a life story and memoir worth the time. Reads fast and furious with her inimitable sweep and style, yet the author constantly deflates her own grief by the gift of injectible irony. This is a love letter to all difficult mothers, epic bonds and the complexities and self-betrayals of the unhardened heart. On which, as one reads, often sat a cold moth without a name. I would just called her the Wasp of all Arundhati's Anxieties. And perhaps the life giving, damaged, bandaged core, the still vulnerable source of her courageous, prodigious talent. 🌹It is like all layered works, far more complex than the beheld story. It is an ode to a woman's resilience.
