February 14, 2023 is celebrated as valentine day as a symbol of romance, love and affection, despite most of the people are unaware of the origin of this celebrations. The stories for his day are convoluted and obscure. Some people trace its origin to Roman celebration of the spring, called Lupercalia. The day marked the beginning of spring and prayed the gods to enhance the fertility of the soil, women animals etc. The celebration was forbidden by the church at the end of 5th century. To baptize these traditions Some Christian stories are attributed to few mysterious saints who had the healing powers. The interesting part of the story today is that Indian government has Hundovizsd the valentine day as the cow hug day to protect and enhance the Hindu values.
