Doctors Are Not Free Helplines."
We give free consultations.
We write free prescriptions.
We interpret lab reports at 11 p.m.
We answer medical questions on birthdays, weddings, and funerals.
Why?
Because we care.
Because we took an oath.
Because we were taught that healing is noble.
But what do we get in return?
"Why are you talking about money?"
"This is a noble profession."
"You should serve humanity, not charge for it."
All this, while other professionals say this with ease:
Lawyers charge consultation fees - even for phone calls.
Chartered Accountants charge for a signature.
Architects charge for blueprints.
Therapists charge per session - no discounts.
IT consultants won't fix your software for free.
Tutors don't teach for free because you're "like family."
But us?
We're expected to diagnose over WhatsApp.
To give life-altering advice in 2 minutes over a call.
And never mention fees because it's "just a service."
But what we give is not information it is insight.
It's not Google it's wisdom shaped by years of study, sleepless nights, and sacrifice.
This needs to change.
Because if the value of medical care continues to be measured in rupees and not respect,we might just hang our white coats and let the world face what it chose:
A system where care is expected, but not valued.

Accurate.. 💯

Since I am assigned to the gynecology ward at JPMC, I would like to share some of my experiences with the public regarding the intense workload that doctors face and the attitude of people towards us.

So it was 27 august 2024 I was oncall house officer and since it was a post emergency call, wards were flooded with patients, two patients per bed, all post cesarean patients, the chaos,everyone complaining of pain,nausea etc. Attendants being rude ..
It was already 5 pm in evening and i had no time to have lunch i was so thirsty tht i finally decided to go to the doctors room upstairs and come back in few minutes after hydrating myself but that was the time one of our pg rushed and called out "hurry up a patient needs to be intubated in ot "
So this patient...who was unbooked with twin pregnancy and uncontrolled blood pressure came to our ER with fits and was undergone emergency cesarean but unfortunately just after being shifted in ward she threw a fit again and needed to be intubated, for which we rushed to ot downstairs .
All oncall doctors making calls in different icu setups in JPMC for a vacant icu bed
Even contacted private hospital for icu until we get one in our own hospital.
We called the ambulance to shift the patient to icu.
Ambulance was there in no time ..
Dehydrated we rushing between ot and main gate pumping the ambu bag and that was When one of her attendant started shouting at us ,threatening us "mai ap logo k khilaf FIR katwaonga maire patient ka yeh hal nhi tha jb ayi thi etc" he kept on shouting in front of many doctors and public ...while we were pumping ambu bag for his patient to survive.

That time i realized how easy it is to blame doctors for what they dont deserve....
Although we were not responsible for her previous uncontrolled bloodpressure due to which she threw fit yet we were doing what we could to maintain her vitals and still we had to listen to her attendant's threatening words ...

Doctors do whatever they can do best for their patients ,compromising their own physical and mental health yet they are the first to be blamed....!
