THE INCOMPLETE VACCINATION SCHEDULE OF PAKISTAN PLAYING WITH LIVES OF KIDS. Once again we are seeing resurgance of a fatal disease diphtheria which has long been gotten rid off even in 3 rd world countries. Every day a new case of diphtheria reported in paediatric emergency . The majority of children are vaccinated but still suffer this disease with fatal outcome. The only reason is that the VACCINATION SCHEDULE followed in Pakistan is incomplete with no booster of diphtheria vaccine given. In Pakistan we give diphtheria vaccine at 6,10,14 weeks only but no booster given thereafter. This immunity lasts only 3 to 4 years and AFTER that children are again prone to develop diphtheria which is reason for the reemergence of diphtheria in Pakistan. In the developed diphtheria boosters are given at 15 to 18 month and then again at 5 years of age and then 10 yearly afterwards. The recommended vaccine for diphtheria booster is DTap for children and Tdap for adults. Both are not available in Pakistan. So all we can do is cry and let somebody take pity on our kids and bring these vaccine to Pakistan so that we can save our CHILDREN our future. May ALLAH keep our children safe.
