Dow Patient Care Association - DPCA DPCA is a registered, student-run NGO aiming to financially assist the non-affording patients of Dow.

Founded in February 2012 by D.I.M.C students Sohaib Tauheed, Asfiyan.M.Zuberi, Hannan Ali, Ahmar Mehmood, Ayyaz Rasul & Basit Haider Dow International Patient Care Association is a non-political voluntary, social, welfare, students based organization that is run solely by the undergraduate students at Dow International Medical College, Ojha Campus, Karachi. The mission of this organization is to help the poor patients of Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases and Dow University Hospital initially. The later aim is to expand our helping hand throughout different hospitals of the city. We aim to provide all the necessary medicines and money for hospital bills and investigations to the patients who are extremely un-affording and bring back their lost smiles. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (pbuh) said: “He who removes from a believer one of his difficulties of this world, Allah will remove one of his troubles on the Day of Resurrection; and he who finds relief for a hard-pressed person, Allah will make things easy for him on the Day of Resurrection; he who covers up (the faults and sins) of a Muslim, Allah will cover up (his faults and sins) in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah supports His slave as long as the slave is supportive of his brother…” [Muslim]

Awareness saves lives—know your risks, take preventive steps, and screen early. 💗

Risk Factors:
Family history, BRCA mutations, obesity, lack of physical activity, smoking, early menstruation, late menopause, prolonged hormone therapy,and personal history of certain non-cancerous breast conditions like DCIS or LCIS.

Prevention:
Stay physically active, maintain a healthy weight, eat a balanced diet, avoid smoking, breastfeed if possible, and get regular clinical exams and mammograms.
