Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) compression of the median nerve in the wrist.
Causes: Repetitive hand use, wrist injury, diabetes, pregnancy, arthritis.
Symptoms: Numbness, tingling, pain in thumb, index, and middle fingers; hand weakness.
Tests:
Tinel’s sign – tingling on tapping wrist
Phalen’s test – symptoms on wrist flexion
Treatment:
Wrist splint, rest, physiotherapy (nerve gliding, stretching)
Anti-inflammatory drugs or steroid injections
Surgery if severe (carpal tunnel release)
