Another short post for nutrition
We really need to understand how our diet can affect our body health including brain function, heart disease, diabetes, strokes, chronic fatigue, chronic inflammation and more.
I will talk about this topic in depth from tomorrow.
Just grocery-shopped today then paid attention to nuts and seeds!

Nuts and seeds are some of the healthiest foods on the planet.
They grow from plants and trees and are full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals, and phytosterols, known as plant sterols, which are a family of molecules found in the cell membranes of plants.
Nuts are a good source of healthy fats that help build healthy immune and nervous systems. Although high in calories, the nutrients in nuts provide the body with an excellent source of protein and energy
These are great sourses of alternatives to snacks.
Snacks are unhealthy carbs!
When it comes to carbohydrates, there are 2 types.
1) simple carbs (or sugar)
- this offers a sweet taste and gets digested fast!
2) complex carbs (or sugar)
- taking a long time to digest in the body.
The snacks count as simple carbs.
- you may have heard of refined sugar.
Snacks are refined sugar.
How are carbs refined?
- process of taking out all the healthy nutrients and leaving only the sugar molecules in that the food can last forever over the counter.
Once all necessary nutrients removed, nothing can spoil the food (snacks/candy and other sweeteners)
They don't have an expiration date, compared to the whole (unrefined) food. Eating too much-refined food can speed up our expiration dates!
How to tell what refined carbs are?
- anything in a package that has no expiration date is
refined such as pasta, syrup, sugar, flour and white rice.
Instead of eating snacks between meals, consume healthy fat (nuts and seeds).
Fats are important for the brain to function properly.
Why?
because they are utilized to form the myelin sheath of the nerves and produce energy. According to research, people with Alzheimer's disease tend to have damaged nerve myelinations, meaning that there is a communication problem between brain neurons.
Eating healthy fats is essential.
So what?
