*📢 Interns Lecture Series*

The *Department of Clinical Psychology* , Punjab Institute of Mental Health, successfully conducted another session of the Interns Lecture Series on the topic:
🧠 *Formal Assessment Measures: MMPI, BGT, BDI* on Friday 6th January 2026.
The lecture was conducted by *Ms Shumaila Jabeen , Senior ClinicalPsychologist* and *Ms Yarusha Azim* Clinical Psychologists, PIMH.
🎯 The objective of this session was to provide interns overview of formal psychological assessment measures focusing on the MMPI, Bender–Gestalt Test, and Beck Depression Inventory. The session introduced interns to the purpose, structure, administration, and clinical applications of these tools. Emphasis was placed on basic interpretation, reliability and validity, ethical considerations, and the role of formal assessments in psychological evaluation.

🧠*Empowering Minds, Destigmatizing Mental Health at PIMH 💙*

Students from the *BS (Hons) Psychology* program at the *University of Science and Technology* visited PIMH as part of an academic initiative aimed at bridging theory with real-world mental health practice.

The visit reflected *PIMH’s commitment to collaborating with academia to challenge stigma, create awareness about psychiatric illnesses,* and promote understanding of evidence-based treatments and recovery.
The Students were engaged in an inspiring interaction with *Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid, Executive Director PIMH* , who emphasized the vital role of future psychologists in advocacy, awareness, and destigmatization of mental health.

The visit was convened by *Ms* *Aqila Unbrin,* Principal Clinical Psychologist, and facilitated by *Ms. Yarusha Azim* and *Ms. Faroza Islam,* Clinical Psychologists at PIMH.

The *Department of Clinical Psychology* , Punjab Institute of Mental Health, successfully conducted another session of the Interns Lecture Series on the topic:
🧠 *Informal Assessment Measures* .
The lecture was conducted by *Ms Sara Ishaq* and *Ms Hira Fakher* Clinical Psychologists, PIMH. The session overview and summary were presented by *Ms Aqila Unbrin* , Principal Clinical Psychologist, who also highlighted the ethical and professional values related to informal assessment practices, emphasizing confidentiality, objectivity, cultural sensitivity, and responsible clinical judgment.
🎯 The objective of this session was to provide interns with an overview of informal assessment measures, like behavioral observation, History taking, clinical interview, MSE, functional assessment etc emphasizing their importance in clinical diagnosis, case formulation, and treatment planning. The lecture enhanced interns’ understanding of practical and applied assessment approaches used in clinical settings.

*🇵🇰 Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed at PIMH 🇵🇰*

Kashmir Solidarity Day was successfully observed at PIMH arranged by Wellness Club with a strong spirit of unity, compassion, and support for the people of Kashmir.

On this occasion, *a solidarity walk* was organized in which Administrative Staff, Teaching Faculty, Doctors, PGRs, Clinical Psychologists, Pharmacists, Nursing Staff, Interns, and Paramedical Staff actively participated. The walk reflected collective commitment, empathy, and unwavering support for the Kashmiri people.
Following the walk, a reference session was arranged where participants shared their views, reflections, and sentiments regarding the significance of Kashmir Solidarity Day and the importance of standing for justice, peace, and human dignity.
*The Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Ayesha Rashid* , delivered a strong and heartfelt message, emphasizing unity and reaffirming solidarity with the people of Kashmir. She highlighted the moral responsibility to remember the sacrifices of Kashmiris and to continue raising voices for their rights through peaceful means.

The event concluded with a renewed pledge of solidarity, prayers for peace, and hope for a just and lasting resolution.

Administrative and Addiction Treatment Centre staff at Punjab Institute of Mental Health participated in a practical fire safety training session focused on emergency SOPs and hands-on use of fire extinguishers, Emergency Response and Evacuation procedures. The Training was conducted by Fire saftey Focal person and MSDS Implementation Team.

*Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid, Executive Director,* personally joined the training—reinforcing a strong culture of safety through leadership by example.

*🌟 Celebrating Humanity at PIMH — A Sense of Belonging for Forgotten Souls 🌟*

The *Wellness Club, PIMH* successfully organized a *patient-centric* Social Evening as a *therapeutic and recreational intervention* for the *psychosocial well-being and rehabilitation of long-term destitute and homeless patients residing at PIMH — patients who have not visited their homes for many years and for whom PIMH has become a permanent home.*

The evening was graciously attended by our Chief Guest, *Executive Director PIMH, Prof. Dr. Aysha Rashid,* whose continued support for wellness-based, humane care initiatives added great value and meaning to the event.

*This gathering was carefully planned with one noble purpose:*
✨ To provide patients with a dignified, family-like recreational experience
✨ To promote emotional well-being, social connectedness, and inclusion
✨ To allow patients to sit together with doctors, staff, and guests at an equal and respectful level
✨ To create a warm environment where healing could occur through human connection
A special thanks to our kind donor who sponsored a delicious live BBQ food for the patients. The event was further supported through contributions from the administrative team, teaching faculty, doctors, clinical psychologists, dental surgeon, pharmacists, nursing staff,and Paramedical Staff reflecting true compassion, unity, and commitment to patient welfare.

The smiles, conversations, laughter, and shared moments during the event proved that:
"Healing is not only clinical — it also happens when patients feel valued, included, and cared for as human beings."

*Another Initiative by PIMH for Strengthening Mental Health Care* 🧠

PIMH, in collaboration with the *Provincial Health Department Center (PHDC),* took an important initiative to train doctors and nurses working at *BHUs and RHCs* with the aim of breaking stigma against psychiatric illnesses and increasing mental health awareness at the primary healthcare level.

For this purpose, a successful activity-based training on *Early Detection, Diagnosis, and Referral for Treatment of Psychiatric Illnesses* was conducted by *Prof Dr Aysha Rashid* , Executive Director, PIMH, and *Ms Aqila Unbrin,* Principal Clinical Psychologist, PIMH.
The training focused on capacity building of doctors and nurses, enabling them to identify early signs and red flags of psychiatric illnesses, differentiate them from physical conditions, and ensure timely referral for appropriate treatment. Participants from various hospitals attended the session and actively engaged in interactive discussions and hands-on learning activities.

📢 *Interns Lecture Series*

The Department of Clinical Psychology, Punjab Institute of Mental Health, Lahore, successfully conducted another session of the Intern Lecture Series on Topic: *Psychological Interventions: Relaxation Exercises. *Speaker for this lecture was Mr Moeen Ahmed (Clinical Psychologist)* .
The purpose of this lecture was to help interns to learn about techniques to manage stress, reduce physical and mental tension, and improve focus and emotional balance. These techniques promote self-care, prevent burnout, and enhance overall well-being during training. Learning basic relaxation methods also enables interns to apply them in clinical or academic settings and guide others in managing stress effectively.

*Executive Director Conducts Quality Assurance Visit at PIMH Facilities*

The Executive Director PIMH *Prof Dr Aysha Rashid* along with the administrative team, conducted visit to the Addiction Treatment Center and General Stores to assess service quality and operational efficiency.

The visit focused on reviewing patient care services, availability of essential supplies, and adherence to quality standards. Emphasis was laid on ensuring uninterrupted services, proper management, and continuous improvement across clinical and support departments.
