🚑 Delayed neck injury doesn’t mean lost hope
A 55-year-old patient came to us with neck pain, stiffness, weakness, and difficulty walking, six months after a road traffic accident. He had a C2 neck fracture that was initially treated without surgery.
Over time, his condition worsened. He developed spasticity and weakness in his limbs, affecting his daily life.
After proper evaluation, we performed posterior decompression and C1–C2 fixation surgery.
The surgery went well, and his strength and muscle stiffness improved after the operation.
✅ This case carries an important message for patients:
Not all spine injuries heal completely with time. If symptoms like weakness, imbalance, stiffness, or walking difficulty appear or worsen, re-evaluation is critical.
In our setting, many patients delay treatment due to fear, misinformation, or limited access. With proper assessment and timely surgery, meaningful recovery is possible, even months after injury.
Alhamdulillah, seeing patients regain function is what drives our work.
📍 If you or a loved one has: • Neck or back injury after trauma
• Weakness or numbness in arms or legs
• Difficulty walking or balance problems
• Symptoms worsening after conservative treatment
