National Hospital & Medical Centre, Lahore, recently hosted a thought-provoking pre-conference workshop on Tuberculosis (TB) as part of the 23rd Annual Conference of the Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Society of Pakistan.
The workshop, facilitated by Dr. Nadia Majeed, Consultant Infectious Diseases, aimed to raise awareness about the concerning global health issue of TB and explore the latest advances in its diagnosis and management. The event brought together renowned experts, including Prof. Shahida Khawaja, CEO of National Hospital, Prof. Kamran Cheema, Mr. Mohammad Rehan Khan, Dr. Huma Batool, Dr. Naima Mehdi, Dr. Furqana Akhtar, Dr. Amber Elahi, Dr. Sana Kundi, Dr. Urfa Shafi, and Dr. Nadia Majeed, who shared their expertise on various aspects of TB diagnosis and management.
The workshop covered crucial topics, including TB statistics, diagnostic approaches in microbiology, histopathology, and radiology, as well as the management of drug-sensitive pulmonary and extra-pulmonary TB. The speakers also discussed new medicines, shorter regimens, and upcoming research in the field.
