"Acupuncture"

- Acupuncture is based on the concept of meridians or energy pathways within the body that connect the body's organs and systems. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncturists aim to stimulate the body's natural healing response and restore balance to the flow of energy. "Hijama"

- Hijama, also known as "cupping therapy," is an ancient practice that involves the application of suction cups to the skin in order to draw out stagnant blood and toxins from the body. The cups are typically made of glass, bamboo, or plastic, and are applied to specific points on the skin using a vacuum pump or by heating the air inside the cup. The suction created by the cups draws blood to the surface of the skin, causing small blood vessels to rupture and release stagnant blood and toxins. The cups are usually left in place for several minutes, and then removed to allow the body to continue to expel toxins. Hijama is believed to have a number of health benefits, including the promotion of blood flow, the stimulation of the immune system, and the relief of pain and inflammation. It is commonly used to treat a variety of conditions, including headaches, back pain, arthritis, asthma, and digestive disorders.

Hashimoto's disease, also called Hashimoto's thyroiditis, is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the thyroid gland. This leads to chronic inflammation and often results in hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). It is one of the most common causes of hypothyroidism.

Causes

The exact cause is unknown but involves a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

It is more common in women and can be triggered by factors like:

Hormonal changes (such as pregnancy)

High iodine intake

Radiation exposure

Certain infections or viruses

Symptoms

Hashimoto's disease develops slowly, and symptoms may take years to appear. Common symptoms include:

Fatigue

Weight gain

Cold intolerance

Dry skin and hair loss

Depression or brain fog

Constipation

Slow heart rate

Puffy face

Joint pain and muscle weakness

Goiter (enlarged thyroid in some cases)

Diagnosis

Blood tests: Check for high TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) and low thyroid hormone (T3 & T4) levels.

Thyroid antibodies test: Detects anti-thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies, which indicate an autoimmune attack.

Ultrasound: Helps assess thyroid size and structure.

Treatment

There is no cure, but it is managed with:

Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Euthyrox, etc.): A synthetic thyroid hormone to replace what the thyroid isn't making.

Lifestyle changes:

Balanced diet rich in selenium, zinc, and iodine (but not excessive iodine).

Regular exercise to help with metabolism.
