KIDNEY HEALTH & ELECTROLYTES (sodium, potassium, bicarbonate) IMPORTANCE πππͺ......
π©Ί Kidney Health Education
Your kidneys do more than just make urine β they carefully control important minerals and chemicals that keep your body balanced. Three of the most important are Potassium, Bicarbonate, and Sodium.
πΉ Potassium
Potassium helps your muscles and heart work properly. Healthy kidneys remove extra potassium through urine. If kidneys are weak, potassium can build up in the blood and may cause dangerous heart rhythm problems.
πΉ Bicarbonate
Bicarbonate keeps the bodyβs acid and base balance normal. It helps neutralize extra acid in the blood. When kidney function decreases, bicarbonate levels may drop, which can make the blood too acidic.
πΉ Sodium
Sodium controls blood pressure and body fluid balance. The kidneys decide how much sodium to keep and how much to remove. Too much sodium can cause high blood pressure and swelling.
β
Healthy kidneys keep these levels balanced to protect your heart, muscles, and overall health.
