Take Monkey Pox safety precautions as second case reports at Lahore . Resident of narang Mandi Sheikhupura . PCR of nasal swab positive .
LGH has been declared as center for excellence in monkey pox.
🧍♂️ Personal Precautions
1. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms such as rash, lesions, or fever and avoid hand shakes
2. Do not touch rash, scabs, or body fluids of infected individuals.
3. Avoid sharing personal items — towels, bedding, clothing, or utensils.
4. Practice good hand hygiene – wash hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
5. Use a medical mask if you’re caring for someone suspected or confirmed to have monkeypox.

🏥 In Healthcare and Caregiving Settings
1. Isolation of suspected or confirmed cases until all lesions have crusted, scabs fallen off, and new skin formed.
2. Use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): gloves, gown, mask, and eye protection when handling patients.
3. Proper disposal of contaminated materials — linens, dressings, etc.
4. Surface disinfection with appropriate disinfectants (e.g., bleach, 0.5% sodium hypochlorite).
✈️ Travel and Community Measures
1. Report symptoms early (rash, fever, swollen lymph nodes) if you’ve had recent contact with a suspected case or traveled to affected areas.
2. Quarantine and monitoring of exposed individuals for 21 days .
