🌬️ Winter Illnesses in Children – Important Precautions for Parents 🌡️
Winter brings an increase in common childhood illnesses such as flu, pneumonia, RSV, asthma attacks, sore throat, and dehydration.
Early care and prevention can keep your child healthy and safe.
✅ Important Precautions
• Keep children warm — use layers, cap, socks, and avoid sudden temperature changes.
• Ensure good hand hygiene — frequent handwashing prevents viral spread.
• Keep your child well-hydrated — offer warm fluids, soups, and water.
• Avoid crowded places during high-infection days.
• Maintain good room ventilation; avoid indoor smoke.
• Give a balanced diet to boost immunity (fruits, vegetables, honey >1 year old).
• Keep vaccinations up to date, especially flu vaccine.
• If your child has asthma, keep inhalers/nebulizer ready and follow the action plan.
⚠️ Seek Medical Care If
• Fever >3 days
• Fast breathing or chest indrawing
• Poor feeding or dehydration
• Persistent cough or wheezing
• Child looks unusually sleepy or irritable
