The Department of Dental Education at Peshawar Dental College successfully conducted a comprehensive, multidisciplinary seminar on Dental Implants and Gerodontology in November 25th 2025. The seminar served as a crucial academic platform, bringing together clinical expertise across several dental specialties to address the complex topics of implant dentistry and gerodontology
A core component of the seminar involved student-led presentations of the assigned topics, covering
• Introduction and classification of dental implants
• Osseointegration of dental implants
• Diagnosis, treatment planning and materials for dental implants
• Prosthodontic treatment options related to dental implants
• Surgical procedures for dental implants
• Laboratory procedures for dental implants
• Limitations, complications and failure of dental implants
• Common problems and age-related diseases in elderly patients
• General considerations while managing elderly patients
• Smooth surface caries and its management in elderly patients
Following each presentation, faculty members provided expert input, constructive feedback and facilitating academic discussion regarding current best practices.

Sports Day Celebration at Peshawar Dental College
Peshawar Dental College recently hosted a thrilling Sports Day, showcasing the talents and teamwork of its students. The event was a resounding success, with participants competing in a range of outdoor sports. Students participated in various games such as badminton, tug of war, red light green light, dadchi, ludo and table tennis showcasing their athletic skills and teamwork. Winners were awarded certificates, recognizing their achievements. The event was a great opportunity for students to bond, relax, and have fun. We're looking forward to next year's Sports Day!

Community Dental Visit to MEC (Senior Section) in collaboration with SWS PDC

The Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry, in collaboration with the Student Welfare Society (SWS), Peshawar Dental College, organized a community dental visit to Mercy Educational Complex School (Senior Section). Faculty members, house officers, SWS team, TMOs and 2nd Year BDS students actively participated in the event.
The team conducted dental check-ups, interactive brushing tutorials, and discussions to correct common oral hygiene myths.
At the end of the session, students received dental health packs containing toothbrushes and toothpaste. SWS PDC further distributed sports gift items, adding a fun touch to the visit. Special thanks to Dr. Naveed Ali for contributing his own brand toothpaste (TX) for the activity.
The visit reflected the department’s and SWS’s joint commitment to promoting oral health awareness and preventive dental education in the community.

Convocation 2025 Held at PMC
A grand convocation 2025 of Riphah International University, RIU, was held at Peshawar Medical College, PMC, on Sunday, marking the successful completion of academic journeys for hundreds of graduates in the fields of Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing.
The ceremony celebrated graduates of Peshawar Medical College, MBBS Session 2019–2024, Peshawar Dental College, BDS Session 2020–2024, and Rufaidah Nursing College, Generic BSN Session 2021–2024.
Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, Islamabad, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The event was attended by faculty members, proud parents and distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Najibul Haq, Patron, Prime Foundation, Dr Nasir shah ,DG HEC, Dr. Prof. Zahoor Ahmad Swati, Director ,RIU Peshawar campus, Prof. Dr. Hafeez Ur Rahman, Dean, PMC; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aman Khan, Principal, PMC, Prof. Dr. Saeed Anwar, Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Raza, Principal PDC.
During the ceremony, graduates received their degrees and took the Hippocratic and Professional Oaths, pledging to uphold the values of service, empathy, and professional excellence throughout their careers.
Gold Medals and awards were presented to outstanding students in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements.
Hoor Irfan Khan of PMC was declared Best Graduate MBBS 2019–2024, securing seven awards, including six Gold Medals.
Aqsa Kiramat of PDC earned six awards, including five Gold Medals, as Best Graduate BDS 2020–2024, while Usman Afridi of Rufaidah Nursing College was named Best Graduate Generic BSN 2021–2024.
Other distinguished recipients included Aliza Sajjad, PDC, with four medals, Zarmeena Ikram, PMC, with three, Gulalay Begum, PMC, with two Gold Medals and Maimoona Khan, PMC, Malaika Syed Bukhari, PDC and Maimoona Khanzada, PDC, each earning one Gold Medal for their outstanding performances.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad congratulated the graduates and their families, urging them to uphold ethical values and dedicate their skills to serving humanity with compassion and professionalism.

Community Dental Visit to FG School No.1, Warsak Road, Peshawar

The Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry, Peshawar Dental College, along with 2nd Year BDS students, house officers, and support staff, organized a community dental visit to FG School.
During the visit, comprehensive dental check-ups were conducted for the students, followed by interactive tooth-brushing tutorials and engaging discussions to dispel common myths related to brushing techniques and frequency. To make learning enjoyable, the team also presented an animated educational video highlighting the importance of oral hygiene.
At the end of the session, students received dental health gift packs containing toothbrushes and toothpaste.
This initiative aimed to promote oral health awareness and encourage the adoption of healthy hygiene practices among school children. The visit reflects the department’s continued commitment to community service and preventive oral health education.

Inaugural ceremony of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry New Premises at PDC
Peshawar, September 29, 2025: Alhamdulillah by the grace of Allah, the Department of Pediatric Dentistry PDC is shifted to its new premises today, with enthusiastic participation from the students of Mercy Education Complex, who had the honor of cutting the inaugural ribbon to formally open the department and were the first patients to treat.
Beside the various heads of different departments, the event was graced by Prof. Dr. Raza, Principal/Dean, PDC, Prof. Dr. Hasham Khan, Head of Department, Pediatric Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Shahab Adil, Medical Superintendent, along with faculty members and students.
The ceremony underscored the importance of pediatric dentistry in promoting early oral health awareness and preventive care among children, while also reflecting the college’s strong commitment to education, healthcare, and community welfare.
The Pediatric department extends its heartfelt gratitude to MS, Prof. Dr. Shahab & Dean PDC, Prof. Dr. Raza who made this transition possible with special interest.

During the visit, dental check-ups were carried out for the children, and proper tooth-brushing tutorials and interactive sessions regarding myths of tooth brushing techniques and frequency were conducted. To make learning enjoyable, the team also showed an animated video highlighting the importance of oral hygiene.
At the end of the visit, children received dental health gift packs, including toothbrushes and toothpaste. The visit aimed to create awareness about oral health and adoption of healthy hygiene habits was encouraged with distribution of small snacks for the kids.
This initiative reflects the department’s continued commitment to community service and preventive oral health education.
