“ *Balochistan is the first province to get Maternal, Perinatal Death Surveillance & Response Bill passed by the Provincial Cabinet”*

MPDSR, is a requirement of “International Human Rights Body”; it was crucial as Balochistan has the highest IMR, MMR compared to rest of provinces.

The crux is that through this system not only number of deaths will be recorded throughout Balochistan rather cause of death too; to monitor d trends and come up with evidence based interventions.

For the same a joint meeting was convened with Dr. Asif Shahwani- MS BMC and his team, Dr. Lubna Khalil- Health Commission, Dr. Asfand Sherani- WHO, Dr. Sadia- UNFPA; to discuss key progress areas & strategy to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the MPDSR Act across Balochistan.

Introductory meeting of newly appointed Integrated Service Delivery ( ISD) Project staff; Chaired by Inam ul Haq Sb- Provincial EOC Coordinator, Co-chaired by Dr Gul Sabeen Azam- Provincial Coordinator MNCH attended by
Dr. Amiri UNICEF , Dr Noor Hussain Gichki- Immunization Officer UNICEF, Mr Zia Ur Rehman SBC officer UNICEF , Dr Zafar Abro WHO , Dr Sami Tareen- NSTOP Team Lead,
Dr Mohammed Naeem UNICEF, Dr Abdul Aziz Senior Field officer CDC, Abdul Basit SBC officer Polio UNICEF.

Roles, Responsibilities, Coordination at Provincial & District level along with expectations of ISD staff on strengthening Routine Immunization, MNCH services, Nutrition and Polio eradication initiatives through integrated Service Delivery were discussed in detail.

The follow up meeting will be convened in mid November.
