Nipah virus is a zoonotic virus, meaning it can from animals to humans, and is typically found in Southeast Asia, particularly in Bangladesh and India. The virus is carried by fruit bats and can be transmitted to humans through contact with infected animals, spreadcontaminated food, or close contact with an infected person.

Mild cases: Fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, and sore throat
Severe cases: Encephalitis (brain inflammation), seizures, coma, and respiratory distress

- Direct contact with infected animals or their bodily fluids
- Consumption of contaminated food or drinks
