Swabi: The Head of the Paediatrics and Neonatology Department at BKMC, Prof. Dr. Sijad-ur-Rehman, visited THQ Topi to review paediatric and neonatal care services.

AHD Dr. Gul Parez briefed the professor on the current child patient flow and the implementation of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC).

Medical Officer (HOD Paeds) Dr. Ahmed Khizar also updated the HOD on ongoing projects initiated for maternal and child healthcare.

Prof. Dr. Sijad-ur-Rehman appreciated the efforts of the administration and clinical teams for their continued work to improve patient care at THQ Topi.

Swabi: The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women was observed today at THQ MTI-Topi in collaboration with SRSP.

The purpose of the event was to create awareness among the community about violence against women and promote a safe and respectful society.

Participants also applied Nora Surkhi (red powder) as a symbol of solidarity against violence.

Hospital administration appreciated the efforts of the organizers and reaffirmed their commitment to continue such awareness activities.

Swabi: Manager Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) BKMC-MTI Swabi, Mr. Iqbal Shah, visited THQ Topi yesterday to assess the construction progress of various ongoing projects.

The M&E team also handed over the tender documents for the Gynae Complex to the contractor and emphasized the importance of its timely completion.

The new Gynae Complex is expected to significantly strengthen the Gynaecology Department and enhance the provision of maternal health services in the area.

Mr. Iqbal Shah further visited other key sites where construction and revamping work is underway and reviewed the progress. AHD Dr. Gul Parez briefed the Manager regarding the ongoing projects.

Swabi: A 35-year-old woman presented to the Gynae OPD at THQ Topi with chronic pelvic pain and pressure symptoms. After evaluation by Assistant Professor Dr. Nadia Rani (HOD Gynae), and prior workup including CT abdomen/pelvis and CA-125, she was diagnosed with a large, complicated ovarian mass.

Due to financial constraints, her surgery had been delayed in the private sector, and she was concerned about preserving her uterus and fertility.

Dr. Nadia Rani performed a successful laparotomy at THQ Topi, safely removed the mass, and preserved the patient’s fertility. The specimen has been sent for histopathology, and the patient will follow up with the report in the Gynae OPD.

Swabi: Assistant Professor of Anaesthesia, Dr. Balaj Khan, paid a surprise visit to THQ Topi on 18 Oct 2025. Accompanied by Paramedic Supervisor Meraj Khan, Dr. Balaj inspected the Operation Theatre, reviewed OT drugs and the surgery schedule, and observed an ongoing surgical procedure.

He appreciated the OT staff for their continuous efforts and dedication in ensuring the Operation Theatre remains fully functional for the public.

Swabi: The Provincial Team of Center of Excellence for Rural Development (CERD) visited THQ Hospital Topi–MTI, Swabi, with the objective of operationalizing the Benazir Nashonuma Program Facilitation Center.

This important initiative is being implemented with the support of United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP), Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), and the Nutrition Cell, DG Health KP.

Associate Hospital Director THQ Topi Dr. Gul Parez received the visiting delegation and briefed them on the healthcare facilities and services currently being provided at the hospital.

The Benazir Nashonuma Program is a flagship initiative aimed at preventing stunting among children by focusing on the crucial first 1,000 golden days of life from conception to a child’s second birthday.

The program targets registered beneficiaries under BISP to ensure improved maternal and child health through nutrition awareness and the provision of specialized nutritious food.

BISP and WFP, in collaboration with the Department of Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are set to make the Benazir Nashonuma Program Facilitation Center at THQ Topi-MTI.

Swabi: The World Mental Health Day was observed with an awareness event at THQ Topi-MTI in collaboration with SRSP, highlighting the importance of mental health and the need for collective efforts to promote peace and well-being.

Hospital Director Bacha Khan Medical Complex, Dr. Khalid Masud attended the program as the chief guest. The event featured an awareness walk in which hospital staff, representatives from SRSP, and officers from BKMC participated. Mr. Akhlaq (M&E Swabi), Miss Anum Clinical Psychologist, and Dr. Gul Parez AHD Topi were also present on the occasion.

On this occasion HD Dr. Khalid Masud emphasized the urgent need to address mental health challenges at the community level.

The Hospital Director also toured the Emergency Department and met with patients. He also inspected the Dialysis Unit, which is currently being renovated under the T5 Project.

The Associate Hospital Director Dr. Gul Parez shared alarming statistics, revealing that in September alone, 74 medico-legal cases and 14 postmortem cases were recorded all resulting from fi****ms and violence.

This, they noted, highlights the growing need for mental health support and preventive measures.

Swabi: Medical assistance and treatment for flood-affected people in Gadoon, Swabi, are continuing under the supervision of AHD Dr. Gul Parez. The team provided treatment to more than 90 people yesterday, visiting far-flung areas severely hit by the floods.

During the visit, the 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐋𝐮𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐠, met the medical team and appreciated their dedicated efforts. He was accompanied by DHO Swabi Dr. Abdul Latif and officials from the District Administration.

Following the field visit, the WHO team visited BKMC, where they were briefed on the condition of flood-affected patients and ongoing medical response. The WHO team assured full cooperation in providing continued medical assistance, support, and rehabilitation for the injured and displaced.
