Umbilical Hernia (Belly button hernia or naaf ka hernia) is a commonly seen condition in newborn babies. Its causes, symptoms, presentation, treatment, and surgery is being explained here.
Cause of Umbilical hernia:
When babies are in the womb of the mother, the baby receives nutrition through the umbilicus. Through the umbilicus, there are different veins, and the child receives nutrition through them. These veins come and out of the baby through the umbilicus. After delivery of the baby, the baby starts feeding, and this umbilicus is no more required. So naturally, this ring in the tummy of the baby closes by itself. In some of the babies, after falling off the umbilicus, this ring does not close immediately. This incomplete or delayed closure of the ring leads to Umbilical Hernia (Belly button hernia or naaf ka hernia).

Should I place a coin over Umbilical hernia:
No, it may cause a problem to the child. Therefore, as this home remedy and commonly advised startegy in our homes may be harmful (at times), so I dont advise to go for it. Rather, wait for few months and it will mostly settle down by itself.

کیا بچوں میں بھی ہرنیا ہوتا ہے؟
یہ ایک ایسا سوال ہے جو کہ تمام والدین پوچھتے ہیں کیونکہ عام طور پر یہ تصور کیا جاتا ہے کہ ہرنیا کی بیماری صرف بڑی عمر کے لوگوں کو ہی ہوتی ہے۔ بچوں میں ہرنیا ایک عام بات ہے اور ہر چار میں سے ایک بچے کو ہرنیا ہوتا ہے۔ اسکی مثال آپ ایسے سمجھ سکتے ہیں کہ اگر ایک سو بچے پیدا ہوں تو ان میں سے بیس سے پچیس بچوں کو ہرنیا کا مسئلہ ہو سکتا ہے۔ وہ بچے جو اپنے وقت سے پہلے پیدا ہوں، ان میں ہرنیا ہونے کا چانس زیادہ ہوتا ہے۔
بچوں کو ہرنیا کیوں ہوتا ہے؟
جب بچہ ماں کے پیٹ میں بن رہا ہوتا ہے تو بچے کے پیٹ کے نیچے ایک راستہ ہوتا ہے جو کہ ٹانگوں کے درمیان تک آتا ہے۔ یہ راستہ ماں کے پیٹ میں ہی بند ہو جاتا ہے۔ اگر کسی بھی وجہ سے یہ راستہ کھلا رہے تو یہ ہرنیا بن جاتا ہے۔ اس کے بننے کی کوئی خاص وجہ نہیں ہوتی اور یہ کسی بھی بچے میں بن سکتا ہے۔
کیا چھوٹی بچیوں کو بھی ہرنیا ہو سکتا ہے؟
جی ہاں، اگرچہ کہ چھوٹی بچیوں میں ہرنیا بننے کا چانس کم ہی ہوتا ہے اور یہ ہرنیا لڑکیوں کی نسبت لڑکوں میں زیادہ ہوتا ہے، مگر لڑکیوں میں بھی ہوتا ہے۔
کیا ہرنیا کا کوئی دوائی سے علاج ممکن ہے؟
جی نہیں۔ ابھی تک کوئی ایسے دوائی ایجاد نہیں ہوئی جس کو دینے سے ہرنیا کا علاج ہو سکے۔ ہرنیا کا واحد علاج آپریشن ہی ہے۔
کیا ہرنیا کا آپریشن بڑا آپریشن ہے؟
بچوں کا ہرنیا کا آپریشن نہ تو کوئی بہت بڑا نہ کوئی بہت چھوٹا آپریشن ہے، بلکہ یہ ایک درمیانی نوعیت کی سرجری ہے۔
کیا اس آپریشن میں بچے کو بے ہوش کریں گے؟
جی ہاں، بچے کا ہرنیا کا آپریشن مکمل بیہوشی میں ہی کیا جاتا ہے اور اس کے بغیر یہ ممکن نہیں۔
بچے کو آپریشن کے بعد کتنے دن داخل رکھتے ہیں؟
عام طور پر بچوں کو ہرنیا کے آپریشن کے بعد اسی دن گھر بھیج دیا جاتا اور داخلے کی ضرورت نہیں ہوتی۔ ہاں، چھ مہینے سے چھوٹے بچے یا جن بچوں کو ہرنیا کے علاوہ کوئی اور مسئلہ بھی ہو، انہیں ایک رات داخل رکھا جاتا ہے۔
کیا آپریشن کے بعد دوبارہ بھی ہرنیا ہوسکتا ہے؟
ایک مرتبہ آپریشن کے بعد دوبارہ اسی طرف ہرنیا ہونے کا چانس سو میں سے ایک فیصد ہے جو کہ نہ ہونے کے برابر ہے۔
بچے کے ہرنیا کا آپریشن کب کروائیں؟
بچوں کے ہرنیا کا آپریشن جلد از جلد کروا لیں۔ اس میں تاخیر کرنے سے نقصان کا اندیشہ ہو سکتا ہے، اس لیے جتنا جلدی ممکن ہو، بچے کا آپریشن کروا لیں۔
کیا بچے کو ہرنیا کے آپریشن سے پہلے تھوڑا بڑا ہونے دیں؟
عام طور پر والدین جب اپنے کسی رشتے دار سے ذکر کرتے ہیں کہ آپریشن کروانے لگے ہیں تو سب رشتے دار منع کرتے ہیں کہ ابھی آپریشن نہ کروانا اور بچے کو تھوڑا بڑا ہونے دیں۔ ایسا بالکل بھی کرنے کی ضرورت نہیں کیونکہ بچوں میں ہرنیا کے مسائل ہونے کا خدشہ بڑوں کی نسبت بہت زیادہ ہوتا ہے، اسی وجہ سے بچے کا آپریشن جس عمر میں بھی پتہ چلے کروا لیں اور تاخیر نہ کریں۔
اگر بچے کا آپریشن نہ کروائیں تو کیا ہو گا؟
آپ کے بچے کی جان اور صحت بہت قیمتی ہے اس لیے اس پر تجربات مت کریں۔ بچوں میں کئی مرتبہ ہرنیا پھنس سکتا ہے اور اگر ایسا ہو جائے تو ایمرجنسی میں آپریشن کرنا پڑتا ہے۔ اگر ایمرجنسی میں ا ٓپریشن کرنا پڑے تو یہ ایک بڑا اور خطرناک آپریشن ہوتا ہے۔ ایسی صورت میں بچے کی آنت بھی کاٹنی پڑ سکتی ہے۔ اسی وجہ سے یہ تجویز کیا جاتا ہے کہ کسی ایسے مسئلے سے پہلے بچے کا آپریشن کروا لیں جو کہ عام حالات میں ایک درمیانی نوعیت کا آپریشن ہوتا ہے۔
