Pre-conference (KEMCANA UK 2025) PPH Bundle workshop

A workshop on PPH Bundle was organized by the Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Unit IV, Lady Aitchison Hospital, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Meher-un-Nisa, on Saturday, 15th November 2025, in the Class Room of Lady Aitchison Hospital, Lahore.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehmood Ayaz as Patron-in-Chief graced the occasion. He is the main support for all academic activities in KEMU and its attached hospitals.
The VC KEMU examined all stations and helped PGRs in hands on practice. He taught them how to hold needle and apply a stitch.VC Sahib also visited LAH and saw the new labor rooms after being shifted to ground floor. The registrar KEMU Prof. Asghar Naqi also accompanied the VC KEMU in Lady Aitchison Hospital.

MS LAH Dr. Sobia Javed attended as Guest of Honour Prof.Dr Nadia kursheed (unit V )and Prof. Abida Sajid also joined the workshop as guests.

The Chief Organizer, Prof. Dr. Meher-un-Nisa (Head of Department, Unit IV, LAH), delivered the welcome address and provided an overview of the workshop, highlighting its importance in strengthening emergency obstetric care and aligning with national guidelines to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality due to postpartum hemorrhage.

PPH Bundle training emphasized early identification, management, and team coordination.

Consultants, senior registrars, and participants actively and enthusiastically engaged in practical drills.

The workshop was facilitated by Consultants and SRs from Unit IV—including Dr. Samina Gardezi, Dr. Maria, Dr. Saleha Ijaz, Dr. Hina Zafar, Dr. Munazza, and Dr. Saman played an active role in the organization and facilitation of the workshop.

Around 30 participants from Unit IV and Unit V attended the workshop and found the training extremely informative, practical, and beneficial for improving emergency response in cases of postpartum hemorrhage. Feedback collected from attendees reflected appreciation for the hands-on approach and the updated clinical practices taught during the session.

After continuous efforts and facing many challenges, the Medical Superintendent successfully achieved the goal of completing the canteen and parking e-auction process, which was introduced for the first time by the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Government of Punjab.

No doubt, it was a bold and commendable step taken by Dr. Sobia, Medical Superintendent, Lady Aitchison Hospital. Her hard work, dedication, and honesty have proven that sincere efforts always pay off. Everyone can see the “iron lady” working tirelessly to bring positive change to the hospital.

Together for Women’s Health "World Menopause Day Walk 2025"

Under the esteemed supervision and visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz, Vice Chancellor, King Edward Medical University, the Department of Gynaecology, King Edward Medical University celebrated World Menopause Day on 18th October 2025. The event was graciously hosted by Prof. Nadia Khurshid, Head of Gynaecology Unit-V Lady Aitchison Hospital, Lahore.

The walk was enthusiastically attended by Medical Superintendent Lady Aitchison Hospital, Lahore Dr. Sobia Javed, Prof. Uzma Hussain, Prof. Zahra Ishrat, Prof. Nazish Imran, Prof. Meher un Nisa, Prof. Kiran Khurshid, Prof. Saima Iqbal, Dr. Madeeha (Associate Professor), Dr. Alia Masood (Assistant Professor), along with doctors and senior nursing staff of Lady Aitchison Hospital, Lahore.

The global theme for 2025 was “Lifestyle Medicine.” During the awareness walk, banners and placards were displayed to highlight the six pillars of lifestyle medicine physical activity, healthy nutrition, adequate sleep and self-care, stress management and mindfulness, social connection and purpose, and avoidance of harmful habits. The main objective of the walk was to raise awareness about the importance of lifestyle medicine in promoting a healthier midlife.

Two informative stalls were also set up, displaying healthy versus unhealthy food choices, encouraging participants to make better lifestyle and dietary decisions.
The event truly reflected the vision of Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz in promoting lifestyle medicine as a cornerstone of preventive healthcare and community well-being, rather than merely an adjunct to treatment. Participants appreciated the creative and engaging representation of this year’s theme, which combined awareness, education, and celebration in a meaningful way.

The Chief Organizer Professor Dr.Meher-un-Nisa ,Head of Department Unit IV LAH gave welcome speech and overviewed the agenda of the workshop as continuation of the Cervical screening drive started by the Government in response to the Global call by WHO.A presentation on Colposcopy was delivered by Dr Rameen Faiz (3rd year PGR ).Dr Samina Gardezi ,Consultant Unit IV LAH reflected on some important aspects of the presentation.MS LAH Dr Sobia Javed was the Guest of Honour who spoke on behalf of the panel of experts and praised the efforts of Prof Dr Meher Un Nisa on conduction of a workshop on latest approaches being used in the world .Hands on practice on real patients was done that helped to introduce skill.DMS Dr Nuzhat ,NS Safia Shahab ,Madam Shabeen (Biomedical engineer)with all senior staff also graced the event with their presence.Consultants and SRs from Unit IV Dr Samina Gardezi,Dr Maria ,Dr Saleha ,Dr Hina Zafar,Dr Munazza ,Dr Saman from Unit IV took keen interest in workshop conduction.

A preparatory session for TOACS, organized for IMM and FCPS/MS students, was successfully conducted today on Sep 27, 2025 by Unit IV Lady Aitchison Hospital under chairmanship of Prof. Dr Meher Un Nisa. The session provided participants with practical exposure and guidance for their upcoming examinations.

The event was attended by the Medical Superintendent Dr Sobia(guest of honour), Professor Dr Abida Sajid, consultants/senior registrars(Unit IV) and faculty from Unit 5, Lady Willingdon hospital, and the Neonatology Department, along with former postgraduate residents. Their presence greatly enriched the session and appreciated this fruitful academic activity.

Active participation from residents and students created an engaging learning environment. Dr.mumtaz ,Dr nuzhat,Dr.rizwan, Biomedicine engineer Sabeen Razi attended closing ceremony.We extend our gratitude to the organizing team, faculty, and all attendees for their support and encouragement, which contributed to the success of this academic activity.

The Chief Organizer Professor Dr.Meher-un-Nisa ,Head of Department Unit IV LAH gave welcome speech and overviewed the agenda of the seminar and put light on the grave concerns of the common masses regarding the vaccine .A presentation on Cervical Cancer and HPV vaccination was given by Dr Arooj Mukhtar (PGR 4rth year ).Dr Samina Gardezi ,Consultant Unit IV LAH reflected on the most important questions related to the HPV vaccination.Professor Dr Uzma Hussain ,Chairperson department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology was the patron of the workshop who gave her expert reviews regarding the global call by WHO for eradication of HPV via improvement in screening and promotion of vaccination. MS LAH Dr Sobia Javed was the Guest of Honour who spoke on behalf of the panel of experts and praised the efforts of Prof Dr Meher Un Nisa on conducting an awareness seminar on such a hot topic .Prof Dr Abida Sajid joined the seminar from Unit V LAH and enlightened all with important information.DMS Dr Saad ,NS Safia Shahab with all senior staff also graced the event with their presence.Consultants and SRs from Unit IV Dr Samina Gardezi,Dr Maria ,Dr Saleha ,Dr Hina Zafar,Dr Saman from Unit IV took keen interest in seminar conduction.

Feedback was taken from candidates who found it was helpful.Seminar and awareness walk was concluded with distribution of shields and certificates to facilitators ,organisers,guests and participants.
