«Just like everyone wants a Prada coat, the atom wants to have a full set of electrons on its shell » -– Professor Jerzy Popinigis explaining chemistry to his 12 years old niece.

Atoms strive for balance, seeking full electron shells to achieve stability, much like a well-fitted coat enhances one's appearance. This analogy reflects the fundamental principle of atomic stability, a concept that resonates deeply in biochemistry.

A field significantly advanced by Professor Popinigis who was a pioneer in free radical research in .

Professor dedicated his career to understanding the relationships between metabolism and cellular structures.

June’s Free Radicals Conference is dedicated to his memory.

Skeletal muscle is a tissue that is understudied. Yet it represents about 40% of body mass in non-obese individuals and is therefore of fundamental importance for whole body metabolism and health.

Have you ever wondered how our bodies adapt to exercise and enhance muscle health as we age??

This is a question our next speaker will try to clarify - David A. Hood, Professor and Director of the Muscle Health Research Centre at York University, in .

Professor Hood continues to push the boundaries of research in muscle health and cell physiology through his work, that has been instrumental in understanding the molecular mechanisms behind muscle function and health.

Grab the opportunity to hear his lecture about “Boosting the effect of exercise on mitochondria to enhance muscle health with advancing age” and discover his invaluable contributions to the understanding of muscle biology.

Understanding sarcopenia -the progressive loss of mass and strength - is a gateway to improving muscle regeneration and overall patient outcomes.

With an extensive bacgkround in biochemistry and scientific specialty on stem cells and their use in the regeneration of human tissues, Professor Joanna Brzeszczynska will be present at the Free Radicals Conference - 27 June 2025.

Prof. Brzeszczyńska, from the Department of General Biochemistry, Institute of Biochemistry at the Uniwersytet Łódzki University of Lodz (Poland) will discuss her research that focuses on “The effect of sarcopenia in perioperative orthopaedic patients: A muscle regenerative potential.”

This will be a unique opportunity to learn more about cell biology and the regeneration processes of skeletal muscle, providing an important platform in the development of regenerative medicine.

Known for his research on cellular metabolism, Professor Enrico Bertoli, will be the co-chairman of the first-day session at Free Radicals Conference 2025.

While teaching Biochemistry at the Univpm Università Politecnica delle Marche, in , Prof. Bertoli is a notable figure in the field, mainly for his work on the metabolic regulation and how it affects cellular functions.

Along with Professor Jędrzej Antosiewicz (Gdański Uniwersytet Medyczny), he will guide discussions about oxidative stress and the critical role of free radicals in various biological processes.

Join us at the upcoming discussions at the Free Radicals Conference on June 27 and 28, in Gdańsk, to learn and understand more about oxidative stress and its impact to health.

A cornerstone of obesity prevention and therapy is lifestyle modification through dietary changes, which is reflected in the modulation of plasma lipoprotein metabolism.

hasztag - Our next speaker is Professor Tiziana Bacchetti (Univpm Università Politecnica delle Marche, )

📆 27 June 2025
🕙 11:30 - 12:00
🔬 Topic : “Lipoproteins and oxidative stress in obesity”

Tiziana Bacchetti is a Biochemistry Professor at the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences, at Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona, Italy.

In the upcoming Free Radicals Conference in Gdańsk, Poland, on June 27-28, 2025, Prof. Bacchetti will present her research on how lipoprotein levels and oxidative stress are frequently observed in obese patients.

This will be a unique opportunity to participate in one of the largest international meetings in CEE dedicated to free radicals. Don’t miss it!

A diet promoted by celebrities 🎉 – but what does science say?

Time-Restricted Eating (TRE) has gained popularity thanks to endorsements by celebrities, but what does the research reveal?

In the "Życie w Zdrowiu" podcast on Radio TOK FM (link in comments), Prof. Jędrzej Antosiewicz, Chair of the Free Radicals Conference Organizing Committee, explored the science behind TRE and its effects on metabolic and brain health.

What is TRE? It’s a dietary approach that limits meals to specific time windows, offering scientifically proven benefits such as:

💊Improved metabolic regulation
💊Enhanced brain function and neuroprotection
💊Increased energy and mental clarity

This evidence-based approach aligns with key topics/ panels of the Free Radicals Conference 2025, like reducing oxidative stress and supporting long-term health.
