Im happy to share that I’ve received my certification as a Functional Medicine practitioner from the Institute for Functional Medicine. I am the first certified from IFM in Puerto Rico. This goal was set in 2019 as I started my Masters in Nutrition based on the Functional Medicine paradigm at The University of Bridgeport. I then had the incredible opportunity to complete my Functional Nutrition Residency Program with Dr. Kara Fitzgerald clinic. Meanwhile gaining 9 years of clinical experience and mentorship from my beautiful friend and mentor Dr. Brooke Leason, a true healer, at El Centro Naturopatico in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
I’ve spent the last 2 years immersed in IFM’s Advanced Practice Modules, diving deep into biochemical pathways and gained a deeper understanding of clinical imbalances and tools to help my clients. I took the hardest exam I’ve taken, that was designing for medical doctors and practitioners and learned this week that I passed. I feel immensely blessed and grateful and look forward to applying my skills and helping my clients in their healing journeys.

Tips for drinking during the holidays:

If you want to drink alcohol, limit yourself to one 5-oz glass of low-sugar wine (preferably red) or 1 ½ ounces low glycemic liquor such as tequila, mezcal, or vodka, daily.

Keep in mind that alcohol lowers inhibitions and can reduce willpower to choose healthier options. Also, if you are working out, alcohol will slow down your recovery and therefore effect your performance and results.

Enjoy this delicious mocktail that will help keep you on track with your health goals during the holidays.

Sparkling water
🍋 Citrus (lemon, lime, oranges, grapefruit)
Fresh Cranberries (can also use frozen or pomegranate)
Ginger
🥃 Low-glycemic liquor (mezcal, vodka), optional

1. Pour sparkling water into a wine glass.

2. Add in a sliced lemon and a few crushed cranberries.

3. Crush a pinch of Himalayan Sea salt with a few slices of ginger in a mortar tMix it into your drink.

4. Now, you have a very simple but delicious mocktail! If you want to turn turn it into a cocktail, add your choice of low-glycemic liquor, such as mezcal or vodka.

Note: If you can’t find fresh cranberries or pomegranate, substitute with 2 tablespoons of cranberry concentrate or ¼ cup of unsweetened cranberry, pomegranate, or cherry juice.
