My 6-week series “Simple Meditation That Sticks” starts in a few days (April 13, 11:30)

If you’ve been feeling:

• a bit on edge
• more unsettled than expected
• or just not fully at home in yourself yet

this is exactly what we’ll work through.

I’ll guide you through a simple process using breath, awareness, and a gentle focus to help your body actually relax.

You don’t need to “clear your mind” or do anything perfectly.

There’s something about this time of year…

The light changes ☀️, the pollen descends 🌺, the air flows,
and the body starts asking for something different.

In yoga, we follow that.

Spring is a time of movement and clearing.
More twisting, more opening through the chest and side body…
almost like we’re gently “ringing out” what’s been sitting all winter.

Winter, on the other hand, asks for something else.
Slower, steadier, more inward.
Less intensity. More support.

It’s not just physical — energy and emotion tend to move differently this time of year too.

I’ve found that when we move with the season instead of against it,
the body responds in a completely different way.

Softer. More willing.

Less like we’re forcing something…
and more like we’re working with what’s already there.

This is the approach I bring into my classes.🧘‍♀

In Yin Yoga last week we worked into the hips, chest, and side body.

I almost didn’t say this part out loud…but poses that open the pelvis can bring up emotion.

One student told me the next day he felt emotional —and was glad I mentioned it beforehand.

The body doesn’t just store tension.

This class is simple, practical, and very human.
We start by calming the body first… so the mind can follow.

Brain feeling scattered lately?
Try this tonight.

Sit on the edge of your bed.
Feet flat on the floor.
One hand on your chest, one on your belly.

Inhale for 4.
Exhale for 6.

Longer exhales signal safety to the body.
Safety settles the mind.

Your body responds before your mind understands.

You don’t need an hour-long practice to regulate your nervous system.
You need rhythm.

We work with this in yoga.
We work with this in Tai Chi.
We work with this in meditation.

But you don’t have to wait for class.
You can start tonight.
