Building a van is challenging at the best of times but doing it alone is sooooo difficult. This is what I achieved over the weekend, not quite finished yet but good progress was made. So proud of myself.

Gibraltar to Gaucin - I’ve always wanted to see Gibraltar and it didn’t disappoint, parked on the Spanish side and walked into town, will definitely be back to climb to the top of the rock. From there it was a long winding road up into the most picturesque traditional Spanish village of Gaucin. Gaucín is a town and municipality located in the mountains of Andalusia in the province of Málaga in southern Spain. It is inland from Marbella, Puerto Banús and Estepona and not far from Ronda. The village has a population of approximately 2,000. The night was spent at La Fructuosa. The building is about 200 years old and has been open to guests for a century or so in various incarnations. At the start of the 20th century it was a popular guest house called La Española (meaning The Spaniard), but all the locals called it La Fructuosa, or Fructuosa’s place, because that was the name of the owner. Catherine and Daniel aka Basil and Sybil took over La Fructuosa in 2017 and carried out a substantial renovation of the rooms, kitchen and public spaces, needless to say it was a beautiful experience and dinner was divine, the last few hours of the evening were spend sipping wine and beer on the top terrace overlooking the valleys below.

The most important thing in our life is out health, not only physical but also our mental health, it’s something money can’t buy. Look after yourself, eat healthy for your body and exercise on a regular basis for your body and mind. Starting my day off right with a good dose of healthy eating. Great way to spend a Sunday, a train ride with our bikes to Chepstow and then glorious ride home with the wind on our backs. Once we were over the Severn Bridge it was on to beautiful country lanes dotted with picture purge the cottages. Our route took us through Berkley with a quick stop at the tea room and then on to Frampton for a well deserved pint before heading home via Elmore.

Planning my first trip and I don’t even have a van yet, then there is still the conversion to do. Nothing wrong with a little bit of dreaming.
