Sugarloaf and Smooth Cayenne are the two main type of pineapple grown.

The Sugarloaf also known as Cotonou pineapple(left) has a white flesh and it is green even when ripe. It is unusually sweet with a hint of honey and it’s core unlike most varieties is soft and edible.

The Smooth Cayenne also know as Bendel pineapple (right) is highly acidic, sweet, has a woody core and distinctive yellow flesh. It is very great for juicing and is grown in Nigeria.
