Yogya Balance by Ocean Valley Living offers yoga, meditation, and wellness retreats in Portugal, blending ancient wisdom and modern science for healing and balance. I strive to provide my students with a wholesome and safe yoga experience, customising each session according to their needs, unique health conditions and level of experience. I hold a 700 hour + Hatha Yoga Certification by DGERT, having completed a Yoga and Vedanta Teacher Training led by Pedro Kupfer and master Swāmi Dayānanda. My educational background also includes 16 years of studying in a British International School, in Portugal, followed by a MA degree at Edinburgh University, Scotland, which has contributed to developing a multicultural mindset and a deep appreciation for diverse cultures. As a yoga instructor, I organize each session with an intention, clear alignment instructions, personalised posture modifications, and an empathetic attitude for ease of learning. I believe that regular yoga practice allows you to reconnect to your true essential nature, breath by breath, moment by moment, so that you are able to live calmly in the present moment.

🌿 From Burnout to Breakthrough 🌿

Just recently, we had a beautiful soul join our retreat who arrived feeling completely overwhelmed — emotionally exhausted, mentally drained, and struggling to find her balance after months of burnout.

In just five days, she experienced a deep transformation. Through daily yoga, breathwork, time in nature, and connection with like-minded souls, she began to feel grounded again. Her anxiety eased. Her outlook shifted. And most importantly, she left feeling inspired to prioritize her well-being— with tools she now carries into her everyday life.

“Nature always has a way of guiding me back — to peace, to presence, to something infinite.”

Today, on International Yoga Day, we pause to honor an ancient practice that continues to shape us, hold us, and bring us home — not just to our bodies, but to our truest selves.

For me, Yoga has never lived only on the mat.
It’s in how I breathe through discomfort.
In the choice to be present when escape feels easier.
In the softening of old armor, the tending to quiet wounds,
the gentle, daily act of coming home — again and again.

Lately, when someone asks what I’ve been up to,
I smile and say, “Just working a lot.”
But the real work? It’s been soul-deep.
I’ve been rewiring my nervous system, learning to breathe through the storm.
Meeting my shadows. Shedding what no longer serves.
Slowly, quietly… (un)becoming.

This is yoga, too.
Not always visible. Not always graceful.
No applause. No perfect form.
Just breath. Just awareness. Just courage.

Today, WE celebrate yoga in all its forms —
The flowing postures and the sacred stillness between them.
The silence of Savasana… and the louder lessons life brings off the mat.
