Anniversaires, baby showers, réunions entre famille et amis, enterrement de vie de jeune fille, événements yoga brunch... Lara élaborera un menu personnalisé et de saison basé sur vos préférences. Le menu peut également être complètement végan, sans gluten et/ou sans lactose. Contactez moi pour votre événement!

Birthdays, baby showers, family & friend gatherings, bachelorette parties, yoga brunch events, you name it, Lara will create a personalised & seasonal menu based on your preferences. The menu can also be completely vegan, gluten-free and/or lactose-free.

LAST pop up brunch buffet at in Maria Vinagre for the summer! Don’t miss it 💃🏼

➡️ Next Sunday 24th august 11am

20 euros per person for an open vegetarian brunch buffet. These were a couple dishes from the last edition. Sweet cakes, salads, dips, cheese, granola, and more 🤗 all homemade with local and seasonal ingredients.

Coffee and iced tea included. Kids price available.

Today we’re continuing to talk about FATS 🧀🥑🫒🥥🧈🍟🥜 more specifically, the essential roles fats play in our diet.

Fats serve several vital functions in the human body:

1️⃣ Energy Storage: Fats are a highly efficient way to store energy. When the body has more energy than it needs immediately, it converts excess calories into fat for later use. During times of energy deficit, the body can break down these stored fats to provide a continuous energy supply.

2️⃣ Cellular Structure: Fats are integral components of cell membranes. Phospholipids, which have a lipid (fat) component, form the basic structure of cell membranes. These membranes control what enters and exits cells and participate in various cellular processes.

3️⃣ Insulation and Protection: Adipose tissue, which is a type of connective tissue composed mainly of fat cells, acts as insulation to help regulate body temperature. Additionally, it provides cushioning and protection for internal organs.

4️⃣ Hormone, enzyme and vitamin D synthesis: Fats play a crucial role in the synthesis of essential substances. Certain hormones, such as steroid hormones (e.g., testosterone and estrogen), are derived from cholesterol, as well as vitamin D. Cholesterol also provides substance for making bile which is used to help digest and absorb fats.

5️⃣ Nutrient Absorption: Some vitamins (A, D, E, and K) are fat-soluble, meaning they require fat for absorption. Fats in the diet aid in the absorption of these essential vitamins, contributing to overall health.

6️⃣ Brain Function: The brain contains a significant amount of fat, and certain fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6, are crucial for brain development and function. These fatty acids are only obtained through our diet.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎊 Here’s a carrot cake with cashew cream frosting from me to you to say a big THANK YOU for your support and for following my adventures 🫶🏼
I have been pretty terrible at posting in the last couple of months so my goal for 2024 is to be a bit more consistent in posting:
1️⃣ Nutrition tips & tricks, sharing key take aways from the Stanford Nutrition Science online course I took last year 📚
2️⃣ Plant-focused, easy recipes (mainly plant based with the occasional cheese and egg) 🌱
3️⃣ Sharing updates on our eco guest house project in Aljezur, Portugal 🇵🇹
Having started a new full time job in October last year, I won’t be catering for retreats this year but will continue catering for events 👩🏼‍🍳 so if you need someone to cater for a birthday, a baby shower, a family/friend gathering, or anything else, let me know 😘

Here are a few things I cooked:
🥖 Brunch buffet every morning
🥭 Mango sticky rice with the most delicious Portuguese mangos
🍠 Homemade sweet potato gnocchi with almond pesto
🧀 Baked feta with Portuguese figs, honey and pistachios
🍰 Almond praline, white chocolate and cashew cheese cake
🥦 Miso aubergine, broccoli & black eyed bean tray bake served with whole grain rice and a tahini maple sauce
🍓 Different spreads: strawberry chia jam, sweet potato jam, peanut butter & maple matcha drizzle
💗 Beetroot risotto
🍐 Pear frangipane tart
🍊 Beautiful local & seasonal fruit platter staring mangos, papaya & passion fruit
