How Cortaflex Works
Chondroitin and Glucosamine are produced naturally by the body and aid in repair and maintenance of the joint tissue. Joint cartilage is not directly connected to any blood vessels so, all of the nutrients that the cartilage needs for good health have to be small enough to pass through cellular walls to benefit the joint tissue. It was formulated around the theory that smaller molecules are more likely to be absorbed through cellular walls than larger ones. Therefore, Cortaflex contains the micro sized key active isolates of Chondroitin and Glucosamine, providing the body with both the building blocks and the stimulus for its own production of Chondroitin and Glucosamine.
Cortaflex and Hyaluronic Acid
Cortaflex is fortified with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) for even greater benefit to the joints, particularly those that have experienced excessive wear and tear. HA is a major component of synovial fluid, which is essential for providing the joints with lubrication and the cartilage with nutrients. HA has traditionally been derived from type II Collagen sourced from Rooster Comb, which has a high molecular weight of up to six million Daltons.

Wear and tear to the joints is a normal function and will occur naturally with age, but our domestication of the horse has increased the stresses on the joints resulting in joint related diseases being the biggest cause of lameness and the most common reason for a horse to come out of work. Research
Clinical Evidence Cortaflex is the only equine joint supplement to have been clinically proven in a double blind study of equine tarsal joint movement. The rigorous trial was conducted by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University, one of the leading equine research institutes in the world. Unlike the more subjective research approaches in the majority of equine trials, the study used the most advanced kinetic analysis techniques to objectively and accurately measure the horse’s gait. These techniques, based on video and force plates, unquestionably proved the effects of supplementation. The results were then presented by the author Dr Hilary Clayton BVMS, PhD, MRCVS, to the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).

Chondroitin or Glucosamine? Both? or Cortaflex?
Chondroitin and Glucosamine are widely believed to stimulate the joint cells to produce better quality joint fluid (synovial fluid, which acts as a cushion), and to trigger the cartilage matrix to help prevent damage to the joints.
It is an effective joint supplement because it contains the key refined, pharmaceutical-grade isolates of Chondroitin and Glucosamine. These smaller molecules are easily absorbed into the bloodstream, where they filter through the capillaries to their intended destination – the joints!
Once the key isolates are present in the joints, they trigger the body to produce its own natural Chondroitin and Glucosamine.

How is Cortaflex different from other Glucosamine and Chondroitin products ?

What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a major component of joint lubricating fluid, essential for absorbing concussion and providing cartilage with nutrients and lubrication for movement.
There are 3 versions – Human, Canine and Feline, and Equine. What is the difference? Can I give Equine Cortaflex to my dog?
There are fundamental differences in the formulation of the three versions.
Horses require different nutrients than dogs or humans, for example equine Cortaflex contains copper at levels which are beneficial to horses but not recommended for dogs.
Aside from having unique combinations of nutrients, the three versions of Cortaflex are also blended to be palatable to the species for which it was intended! Human is in capsule form; the Canine & Feline is beef and liver flavoured; the Equine is alfalfa-based.
