It has taken me a few days to gather my thoughts about the incredible FOBISIA Leadership Conference I attended in Kuala Lumpur this weekend.

There are numerous reasons why these conferences are so unique. When you bring together so many inspirational minds in one room, the outcome is truly magical. The themes of purpose and passion resonated throughout every conversation, every keynote, and every session. I feel fortunate to have shared my purpose with such an engaged audience.

I have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback, which has reignited the passion in others and reminded us all of why we do what we do. Sometimes, to become just 1% better than we were yesterday, we need to share our vulnerabilities. This is how we grow, evolve, and ultimately succeed.

I have countless people to thank, and I have formed some lifelong connections during this experience. Thank you for allowing me to share the gift of time, and I look forward to seeing how the power of positive communication shapes the next generation of leaders across Asia and beyond.

We are almost there! The 32nd FOBISIA Leadership Conference is happening this weekend, and I am extremely proud to be a keynote speaker among a lineup of inspiring leaders and professionals. This historic event is more than just a conference; it is a landmark occasion where leaders from across Asia will spark ideas and share valuable knowledge to shape the future of education.

One week on: TEEMS Global Learning in Motion PE & Sport, Health and Wellbeing conference in Riyadh, SAU 🇸🇦

Here are the reasons I love these events:

Upon reflection, two significant moments stand out as crucial to my experience there, as I have begun to implement strategies based on them.

First, the safeguarding panel, which consisted of four knowledgeable professionals in the education sector, served as a beacon for my conversations and approaches to intervention planning for my workshops in 2026. I am grateful to all of them for their insights.

Second, reconnecting with Sultan Alabdulwahed was truly inspiring. When I first visited the British International School Riyadh (BISR) in 2022, Sultan was a student in one of my workshops at the Al Hamra Campus. He is now the Global Ambassador and delivered a confident keynote address in both English and Arabic. It is evident that he has made significant strides in creating his own legacy. Sultan has stayed in touch since the conference and even gifted me a thobe and shemagh upon my return to Riyadh.

These experiences highlighted the power of meaningful conversations, purposeful connections, and genuine care.

I look forward to seeing you all again in the futu

In May of this year, I was fortunate enough to travel to Malaysia and deliver a keynote speech at the FOBISIA Safeguarding Conference. During this event, I met Mushtak Al-Atabi, who opened the conference with a masterclass titled “Leading with Purpose.”

Mushtak, a professor of mechanical engineering, is now a Professor and CEO at Heriot-Watt University in Malaysia.

He kindly signed a copy of his book for me, and I have finally finished reading it! The book, “Leading with Stories,” introduces Mushtak's concept of the Impact Statement, which resonates with young people of all ages. It is truly powerful! Mushtak explores how we can maintain our humanity in an AI-driven world. He emphasizes the importance of using our purpose, emotions, and rewriting our personal narratives to become better leaders. It’s a simple yet effective approach.

I had the pleasure of leading a fantastic group of people from Caddick Construction Limited up Eryri National Park ɛrər mountainous in North Wales. It contains 15 mountains over 3000 feet high, including the country's highest, 𝑺𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒅𝒐𝒏 (𝒀𝒓 𝑾𝒚𝒅𝒅𝒇𝒂), which is 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) tall to which we summited in under 2 hours with many of the group climbing for their own personal journeys 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ⛰️ 🥾

This was my opening slide in a workshop yesterday for a mixed group of 18- to 24-year-olds who are at a crossroads in their personal journeys.

You see, fear can take many forms. It's not always something we can control, especially since we often don’t know what challenges lie ahead. However, what we can do is get up every day with the mindset that we are ready to face our fears by tackling challenges that make us feel nervous. This means stepping out of our comfort zone. Remember, failure is not the opposite of success; it is part of it!

I found myself in an uncomfortable position during two tasks from SAS: Who Dares Wins. I was woken at 0430 hours by the sirens of screams, barking dogs, and bangs. In just three minutes, I was running down to the coast to perform a backwards dive into freezing cold water (in darkness) – the first time it had ever been done on the series at night.

The same day I had to carry out a Forward Absail, walking then running down the face of a cliff top in the Isle of Skye 100 metres high.
