Last week I had the pleasure of being invited to Wigan Council Designated Teacher Network event, brilliantly organised by Chairmaine Tarring and the Inclusion Team.

The event highlighted the outstanding work taking place across primary and secondary settings in the borough, with a strong focus on:

✅ Improving attendance

✅ Navigating the Ofsted framework

✅ Bridging the gap for SEND, PP and LAC learners to achieve better outcomes

I was honoured to close the event with a keynote on the power of positive relationships and how they can unlock barriers to learning.

It was also wonderful to see Sharon Murray in the audience — someone I’ve not seen for many years. I hope our paths cross again soon, and I’m really looking forward to continuing my work across the Wigan Borough.

I recently had the privilege of spending time with the students and staff at Fir Vale Academy in Sheffield.

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 — 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀.

I was genuinely blown away by two things:

•𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲

• 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁’𝘀

It was evident that these students are ambitious and determined to become the best version of themselves. What they’re looking for is clear pathways and practical guidance to get there.

I’m fortunate enough that my platform allows me to travel to different cities, towns and districts. I genuinely believe that everywhere I land has its purpose and the impact left behind will always remain with atleast one person in a room full of like minded people.

I started this key note with a promise. I navigated through 4 key pillars that not only make a great educator and professional, but demographics that make a great person.

𝐀 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞.

I have received such overwhelming feedback and I must extend my thanks to those who left an impression on me during my time at the Hartlepool Summit on Friday

Hartlepool is on a journey and with everyone pulling in the same direction the outcome can only be positive. Inclusive and rewarding

I have arrived in Hartlepool for the Hartlepool Education and Inclusion Summit 2026!

It’s my first visit to the town, but leaving Manchester at 05:30 I felt genuinely energised for the day ahead. I’m excited to contribute to this year’s theme: High aspirations for all — a powerful message and a vital focus as Hartlepool shapes its new Education Strategy following the recent White Paper.

I’ve prepared a keynote that I hope will inspire, challenge thinking, and leave a lasting impression on everyone working so hard to improve outcomes for children and young people.

🌟 𝐀 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐀 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 🌟

I've just moved into my new home, and I turned the awkward spot under the stairs into a cosy sensory retreat for my daughter.

No fancy storage for the hoover and mop like, but hey, as long as she's smiling it makes it worth it 😊

It’s lonely sometimes. The systems are tough, the battles real. But I’ve learned this: home is where the heart (and so much learning) truly starts—especially for children with additional needs. We don’t need fancy setups or endless budgets.

We need spaces that say, “You’re understood here. You’re safe here.”

We aren’t perfect, just doing the best with what we have and appreciating the little things that make a big difference 👌🏾

To every SEND parent feeling the weight: You’re not alone. The small changes you make matter more than you think.

We are incredibly proud to share that our staff member, Mr Sherwood, has received a prestigious award recognising his outstanding work in wellbeing and education 🌟.

He has inspired more than 75,000 people worldwide through his workshops and keynote talks, championing the message of “positive mindset, positive outcome”.

Judges praised his global impact, powerful storytelling and his vision to develop wellbeing hubs across the UK — creating positive, supportive spaces for young people to thrive.

It has taken me a few days to gather my thoughts about the incredible FOBISIA Leadership Conference I attended in Kuala Lumpur this weekend.

There are numerous reasons why these conferences are so unique. When you bring together so many inspirational minds in one room, the outcome is truly magical. The themes of purpose and passion resonated throughout every conversation, every keynote, and every session. I feel fortunate to have shared my purpose with such an engaged audience.

I have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback, which has reignited the passion in others and reminded us all of why we do what we do. Sometimes, to become just 1% better than we were yesterday, we need to share our vulnerabilities. This is how we grow, evolve, and ultimately succeed.

I have countless people to thank, and I have formed some lifelong connections during this experience. Thank you for allowing me to share the gift of time, and I look forward to seeing how the power of positive communication shapes the next generation of leaders across Asia and beyond.
