Worldwide, one in three women and one in five men aged 50 years and over will suffer an osteoporotic fracture. Osteoporosis causes bones to become weak and fragile, so that they break easily – even as a result of a minor fall, a bump, a sneeze, or a sudden movement. Fractures caused by osteoporosis can be life-threatening and a major cause of pain and long-term disability.

World Sickle Cell Day is marked every year on 19 June with an aim to raise awareness about sickle cell disease. Sickle Cell Disease is a group of disorders that impact hemoglobin, the molecule in red blood cells which deliver oxygen to cells throughout the body.
Individuals who live with this disease have hemoglobin S, an atypical hemoglobin molecule which distorts red blood cells into a sickle or a crescent shape. The disease is usually transmitted from parents to children.

INTERNATIONAL ALBINISM AWARENESS DAY 2022: The International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD), annually observed on June 13, represents the importance and celebration of human rights of people with albinism.

Albinism is a non-contagious, genetically inherited ailment that results in the lack of melanin in the skin, eyes, and hair. Due to this, people with albinism are prone to many issues both social and biological. People subject to this drastic difference in pigmentation are prone to skin cancer. Due to the lack of melanin in the eyes, many people often have a permanent visual impairment.

In addition to this, a substantial degree of discrimination is also associated with this condition. Because of the lack of understanding of this condition, people with albinism have to suffer a great deal socially and face not one but multiple forms of discrimination, including that on the grounds of disability.

Every year on June 8th, World Brain Tumor Day raises awareness and educates people about brain tumors. The day also pays tribute to those affected by brain tumors.
In the United States, over 700,000 people live with brain tumors. In just one year, 84,000 people in the country will be diagnosed with a brain tumor. Brain tumors are either benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous.) A malignant tumor is sometimes referred to as brain cancer. This type of cancer falls into the same category as central nervous system cancers. On a global scale, 330,000 children and adults worldwide were diagnosed with cancer of the central nervous system in one year. This number continues to rise along with the mortality rate for brain cancer.
Because of the high mortality rate of brain cancer, it is vital to understand the symptoms. As with most cancers, early detection is key. The earlier a brain tumor is detected, the easier it is to treat. Common symptoms associated with a brain tumor include recurrent headaches, seizures, vision problems, memory loss, and paralysis of certain body parts. Doctors easily detect brain tumors with certain diagnostic tests, such as a CT scan or MRI.

Only one Earth
In the universe are billions of galaxies,
In our galaxy are billions of planets,
But there is .
Let’s take care of it.

Earth faces a triple planetary emergency:
the climate is heating up too quickly for people and nature to adapt;
habitat loss and other pressures mean an estimated 1 million species are threatened with extinction;
pollution continues to poison our air, land and water.
The way out of this dilemma is to transform our economies and societies to make them inclusive, fair and more connected with nature. We must shift from harming the planet to healing it.
The good news is the solutions and the technology exist and are increasingly affordable.
is the campaign for World Environment Day 2022. It calls for collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet.

Smoking leads to disease and disability and harms nearly every organ of the body.
For every person who dies because of smoking, at least 30 people live with a serious smoking-related illness. Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Smoking also increases the risk of tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems with the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis.
Secondhand smoke exposure contributes to approximately 41,000 deaths among nonsmoking adults and 400 deaths in infants each year. Secondhand smoke causes stroke, lung cancer, and coronary heart disease in adults. Children who are exposed to secondhand smoke are at increased risk for sudden infant death syndrome, acute respiratory infections, middle ear disease, more severe asthma, respiratory symptoms, and slowed lung growth

Hypertension is one of the major Non-Communicable diseases.
Worldwide, raised blood pressure is estimated to cause 7.5 million deaths, about 12.8% of the total of all deaths. This accounts for 57 million disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) or 3.7% of total DALYS. Raised blood pressure is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease and ischemic as well as hemorrhagic stroke. Globally, the overall prevalence of raised blood pressure in those aged 25 and over was 40% in 2008. Stage 1/Grade 1 hypertension is defined in a clinical setting when the mean blood pressure is equal to or above 140/90 and less than 160/100 on two or more measurements on each of two or more visits on separate days. Treating systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure to targets that are less than 140/90 is associated with a decrease in cardiovascular complications.

To bring awareness amongst the population WHO celebrates 17th May as the Hypertension Awareness Day.

An epidemic is an unexpected increase in the number of disease cases in a specific geographical area. Yellow fever, smallpox, measles, and polio are prime examples of epidemics. An epidemic disease doesn't necessarily have to be contagious. West Nile fever and the rapid increase in obesity rates are also considered epidemics. Epidemics can refer to a disease or other specific health-related behavior (e.g., smoking) with rates that are clearly above the expected occurrence in a community or region.

To spread awareness on the effects, consequences, and handling of epidemics. WHO observes 17th May as International Day for Epidemic Preparedness

All of us must've been in the Hospitals, Clinics, and healthcare centers. Either for ourselves or someone close by. We can see them working so hard and passionately. Dealing with patients every day with care and compassion. Tirelessly progressing the treatments, watching people recovering, deteriorating, and sometimes losing it completely.

Let's celebrate the unsung heroes of our Healthcare system "The Nurses"

As Lexie Saige said: A nurse is a compassion in scrubs.

Team Binary System would like to thank every Nurse working around the globe to make our lives better.
