Doctors’ Communication Errors Our First Physical Comeback!

After months of remote activities, KMSA Local Team proudly held its first physical event since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan a four-day workshop titled “Doctors’ Communication Errors”, organized in Egypt .

Bringing together passionate participants and all standing committees, the workshop offered interactive and insightful sessions covering key topics such as doctor–patient communication, medical ethics, patient involvement, stigma in healthcare, and communication under pressure.

A highlight of the event was the Mentorship Program, where seniors shared their real-life experiences and advice with their juniors in a warm, open setting a space filled with laughter, inspiration, and meaningful conversations.

In addition to the learning, participants enjoyed engaging games and activities that strengthened bonds and created lasting memories.

This activity marked more than just a learning opportunity it was a moment of reconnection, growth, and renewal of the team spirit that defines KMSA.

Here’s to more impactful initiatives ahead beyond screens, beyond borders.

أخطاء التواصل عند الأطباء، أول عودة ميدانية لنا!

بعد أشهر من الأنشطة الافتراضية والعمل عن بُعد، نظم الفريق المحلي أول نشاط حضوري له منذ اندلاع الصراع في السودان ورشة عمل لمدة أربعة أيام بعنوان «أخطاء التواصل عند الأطباء»، أقيمت في مصر .

جمعت الورشة مشاركين شغوفين وجميع لجان المكتب المحلي، حيث قُدّمت جلسات تفاعلية وعملية تناولت موضوعات محورية مثل التواصل بين الطبيب والمريض، المبادئ الأخلاقية في الطب، إشراك المرضى في التعليم الطبي، التمييز والوصمة في الرعاية الصحية، والتواصل في بيئات الضغط العالي.

وكانت من أبرز لحظات الورشة جلسة الإرشاد مع عدد من اصحاب الخبرة من الأعضاء القدامى، الذين شاركوا تجاربهم في المكتب المحلي والجمعية السودانية لروابط الطب مع الأعضاء الجدد في أجواء مفتوحة مليئة بالضحك، والإلهام، والحكايات الممتعة.

إلى جانب التعلم، استمتع المشاركون بالألعاب والأنشطة التفاعلية التي عزّزت التواصل بين الجميع وخلّفت ذكريات لا تُنسى.

لقد شكّل هذا النشاط أكثر من مجرد تدريب بل كان مناسبة لإعادة التواصل، والنمو، وتجديد روح الفريق التي تميّز الفريق المحلي.

وسط التحديات التي نعيشها اليوم، ومع ما تمر به بلادنا من أحداث.. نال الطبيب أوفر الحظ من أشكال العنف والذي لا محالة انعكس سلبًا على صحته النفسيّة

وليس هذا فقط، بل نسعى إلى تمكين الطبيب ليكون قادرًا على دعم ومساعدة الضحايا بفعالية وأمان.

A step that combines our mental health and our rights as doctors... through which we open safe doors for support and dialogue.

Amid the challenges we face today, and the events our country is going through, doctors have been the most affected by violence, which has inevitably had a negative impact on their mental health.

This reality we are witnessing must change. Doctors should not suffer in silence. Rather, they should know their rights and strive to protect them.

But more than protection, we aim to empower doctors to effectively and safely support victims of violence.

But... how do we do that? This is what we will learn (and more)... Be part of our activity.

As part of our continued growth within KMSA LT, local projects have become an integral part of our work over the past few years. What began as a new initiative has since evolved into a core component of our activities; one that has consistently strengthened our impact and provided our members with valuable opportunities to learn, lead, and make tangible contributions to the students and the community.

🔹 What are KMSA LT Local Projects?
These projects consist of a series of structured activities, such as sessions, trainings, workshops, campaigns, conferences, and more. They are designed to address specific goals and objectives aligned with the focus areas of one or more standing committees or support divisions. They aim to produce real, measurable outcomes that benefit the KMSA community.

Any KMSA LT member is welcome to propose a project, as long as they inform the relevant local officer(s), support division director(s), or a small working group assembled by the previously mentioned officials for this purpose. Doctor Communication Errors, housed as a mini local GA, is your chance to learn more about fascinating and diverse topics from HIV Stigma to Ethical Principles in Clinical Communication, Patient involvement in medical education to Public health consequences of poor healthcare communication, and Intercultural communication.

This activity is also your chance to attend a Public Speaking training and learning more about the concepts and components of public speaking. A Resilient Communication session will also take place where you can learn how to communicate effectively in high-pressure and emotionally sensitive situations.

Furthermore, we are proud to announce a mentoring session with surprise experts, where you will network and take advice from our very own legends. This is your chance to meet and hear the stories of other passionate members of MedSIN-Sudan, so that, one day you can share these experiences with future students!

✨ Don’t miss this unique chance to experience a multi-committee collaboration and strengthen your medical communication skills, while meeting with experts and friends!

From the very first heartbeat to the challenges after birth, every step of motherhood carries a story. Join us in “A Journey Through Motherhood” as we explore these stories together.

This activity will shed light on key aspects of maternal health: menstrual health, family planning, safe delivery practices, maternal mental health, and the challenges faced by women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.

⚠️ In Sudan, conflict has severely disrupted maternal health services. Many health facilities have become non-functional or inaccessible, leaving women without safe childbirth options. Recent reports indicate that the maternal mortality ratio has risen to 295 deaths per 100,000 live births. Between June 2023 and July 2024, there were 870 reported maternal deaths, including 350 in health facilities.

This isn’t just about learning facts—it’s about raising awareness, breaking stigma, and empowering voices. You’ll have the chance to engage in discussions, learn from experts, and reflect on how we, as medical students, can shape a healthier future for mothers and communities. Together, let’s make maternal health a priority!

✨ We’re also hosting an Open Space Discussion with experts on the maternal health situation in Sudan. Discover how the conflict has impacted healthcare access, how cultural practices influence outcomes, and what role midwives and traditional birth attendants play in shaping care. Don’t miss this chance to gain valuable insights and statistics on maternal health!

من أول نبضة قلب إلى تحديات ما بعد الولادة، كل خطوة في الأمومة تحمل قصة. انضموا إلينا في منشط “رحلة عبر الأمومة” لنستكشف هذه القصص معًا.

من خلال المنشط سنقوم بتسليط الضوء على جوانب أساسية من صحة الأم: صحة الدورة الشهرية، تنظيم الأسرة، ممارسات الولادة الآمنة، الصحة النفسية للأم، والتحديات التي تواجه النساء أثناء الحمل والولادة وما بعد الولادة.

⚠️ في السودان، أدى النزاع إلى تعطيل خدمات الرعاية الصحية المقدمة للأمهات بشكل كبير. العديد من المرافق الصحية أصبحت خارج الخدمة أو يصعب الوصول إليها، مما ترك النساء بلا خيارات آمنة للولادة. وتشير التقارير الأخيرة إلى أن معدل وفيات الأمهات ارتفع إلى 295 وفاة لكل 100,000 ولادة حيّة. وبين يونيو 2023 ويوليو 2024 تم تسجيل 870 وفاة بين الأمهات، منها 350 حدثت داخل المرافق الصحية.

المنشط ليس فقط لتعلّم المعلومات بل هو خطوة لرفع الوعي، كسر وصمة العار، وتمكين الأصوات. سيكون لديكم فرصة للمشاركة في النقاشات، التعلم من الخبراء، والتفكر في كيف يمكننا نحن كطلاب طب أن نساهم في بناء مستقبل أكثر صحة للأمهات والمجتمعات.

✨ كما سنقيم جلسة نقاش مفتوحة مع خبراء حول وضع صحة الأم في السودان. ستتعرفون خلالها على أثّر النزاع على الوصول إلى الخدمات الصحية، وكيف تؤثر الممارسات والمعتقدات الثقافية على النتائج، وما هو الدور الذي تلعبه القابلات والمولدات التقليديات في تقديم الرعاية. لا تفوتوا فرصة الحصول على إحصاءات ورؤى قيمة عن صحة الأم!

الوصف الوظيفي:
1. تسجيل المشاركين في الفعالية.

We are pleased to share that Women Beyond Silence, in collaboration with Zafar Training Center (Sudan) and Al Eureka (Libya & The Netherlands), are hosting an inspiring series of educational webinars.
And guess what!!
Members of KMSA SCORP and SCORA have been specially invited to attend this amazing initiative.

This series will explore:

أعزاؤنا أعضاء الجمعية العمومية ،

يسرّنا أن نشارككم هذه المبادرة الفريده من نوعها التي تنظمها Women beyond silence بالتعاون مع مركز زافر للتدريب (ZTC)و أل يوريكا (Al Eureka)، حيث تنطلق سلسلة من الندوات التعليمية الملهمة التي صُممت خصيصًا لتمنح الطلاب والطالبات مساحة للتعلم والحوار حول قضايا إنسانية ومجتمعية بالغة الأهمية.

ستقدم المتحدثه (Yvonne snitjer) روى عميقة حول كيف يمكن أن تتحول المساعدات الإنسانية من مجرد وسيلة قد تُعيد إنتاج أوجه عدم المساواة، إلى أداة للعدالة والكرامة والمساواة.

هذه السلسلة ليست مجرد ندوات، بل مساحة لإعادة التفكير في دورنا كطلاب طب وصانعي تغيير في مواجهة التحديات الإنسانية.
