From the very first heartbeat to the challenges after birth, every step of motherhood carries a story. Join us in “A Journey Through Motherhood” as we explore these stories together.

This activity will shed light on key aspects of maternal health: menstrual health, family planning, safe delivery practices, maternal mental health, and the challenges faced by women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.

⚠️ In Sudan, conflict has severely disrupted maternal health services. Many health facilities have become non-functional or inaccessible, leaving women without safe childbirth options. Recent reports indicate that the maternal mortality ratio has risen to 295 deaths per 100,000 live births. Between June 2023 and July 2024, there were 870 reported maternal deaths, including 350 in health facilities.

This isn’t just about learning facts—it’s about raising awareness, breaking stigma, and empowering voices. You’ll have the chance to engage in discussions, learn from experts, and reflect on how we, as medical students, can shape a healthier future for mothers and communities. Together, let’s make maternal health a priority!

✨ We’re also hosting an Open Space Discussion with experts on the maternal health situation in Sudan. Discover how the conflict has impacted healthcare access, how cultural practices influence outcomes, and what role midwives and traditional birth attendants play in shaping care. من أول نبضة قلب إلى تحديات ما بعد الولادة، كل خطوة في الأمومة تحمل قصة. انضموا إلينا في منشط “رحلة عبر الأمومة” لنستكشف هذه القصص معًا.

من خلال المنشط سنقوم بتسليط الضوء على جوانب أساسية من صحة الأم: صحة الدورة الشهرية، تنظيم الأسرة، ممارسات الولادة الآمنة، الصحة النفسية للأم، والتحديات التي تواجه النساء أثناء الحمل والولادة وما بعد الولادة.

⚠️ في السودان، أدى النزاع إلى تعطيل خدمات الرعاية الصحية المقدمة للأمهات بشكل كبير. العديد من المرافق الصحية أصبحت خارج الخدمة أو يصعب الوصول إليها، مما ترك النساء بلا خيارات آمنة للولادة. وتشير التقارير الأخيرة إلى أن معدل وفيات الأمهات ارتفع إلى 295 وفاة لكل 100,000 ولادة حيّة. وبين يونيو 2023 ويوليو 2024 تم تسجيل 870 وفاة بين الأمهات، منها 350 حدثت داخل المرافق الصحية.

المنشط ليس فقط لتعلّم المعلومات بل هو خطوة لرفع الوعي، كسر وصمة العار، وتمكين الأصوات. سيكون لديكم فرصة للمشاركة في النقاشات، التعلم من الخبراء، والتفكر في كيف يمكننا نحن كطلاب طب أن نساهم في بناء مستقبل أكثر صحة للأمهات والمجتمعات.

✨ كما سنقيم جلسة نقاش مفتوحة مع خبراء حول وضع صحة الأم في السودان. ستتعرفون خلالها على أثّر النزاع على الوصول إلى الخدمات الصحية، وكيف تؤثر الممارسات والمعتقدات الثقافية على النتائج، وما هو الدور الذي تلعبه القابلات والمولدات التقليديات في تقديم الرعاية. لا تفوتوا فرصة الحصول على إحصاءات ورؤى قيمة عن صحة الأم!

We are pleased to share that Women Beyond Silence, in collaboration with Zafar Training Center (Sudan) and Al Eureka (Libya & The Netherlands), are hosting an inspiring series of educational webinars.
And guess what!!

Dear Members of the General Assembly,
As the September General Assembly of MedSIN-Sudan approaches, we are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the delegation representing Khartoum Medical Students’ Association at the 34th General Assembly – September 2025.
The General Assembly is the largest and most important activity of the association, held twice annually (April & September), gathering over 600 members to strengthen capacity building and networking. It also serves as the highest decision-making body, where:

🔹The Executive Board and the Executive Committee for the 2025/2026 term will be elected.

🔹Midterm elections for the National Team (2024/2025) will be held.

🔹End-of-term reports (2024/2025) will be approved.

🔹New members will be admitted, and membership statuses updated.

🔹Amendments to the constitution and bylaws will be discussed.

🔹Others

🔸 Conference Information:

Date: 30th September – 5th October 2025.

Venue: Fully online (virtual).

Fees: 5,000 SDG.

[KMSA LT 1st Members Meeting Outcomes]

On the 2nd of August, KMSA LT organized the first members' meeting during this term. Almost 40 members attended the meeting. It discussed the previous achievements and activities of the Standing Committees and Capacity Building Division. Then, it included an announcement of the upcoming plans in a brief manner, which met a lot of enthusiasm from the members. They showed high motivation to apply for the most of the recent and upcoming opportunities. The LT discussed the obstacles that faced them during their term, that may have delayed most of the plans. Eventually, there was a space for members' questions who were curious about the LT work details and how they could find opportunities. All the important links were shared with members after the end of the meeting.
This meeting has reminded us of the incredible motivation and enthusiasm of KMSA members and the bright future of our beloved association.

في الثاني من أغسطس، نظم الفريق المحلي برابطة طلاب كلية الطب جامعة الخرطوم أول اجتماع للأعضاء خلال هذه الدورة، بحضور ما يقارب 40 عضوًا.

تناول الاجتماع استعراض الإنجازات والأنشطة السابقة للمكاتب المحليه
وقسم بناء القدرات. كما تضمن الإعلان عن الخطط القادمة بشكل موجز، والتي لاقت حماسًا كبيرًا من الأعضاء الذين أبدوا دافعًا قويًا للتقديم على معظم الفرص الحالية والقادمة.

ناقش الفريق أيضًا العقبات التي واجهتهم خلال الدوره، والتي قد تسببت في تأخير بعض الخطط. وفي الختام، أُتيح المجال لأسئلة الأعضاء الذين أبدوا فضولًا للتعرف أكثر على تفاصيل عمل الفريق المحلي وكيفية الوصول إلى الفرص. كما تمت مشاركة جميع الروابط المهمة مع الأعضاء بعد نهاية الاجتماع.

لقد ذكّرنا هذا الاجتماع بالحافز الكبير والحماس الذي يتمتع به أعضاء جمعيتنا الرائعين وبالمستقبل المشرق لجمعيتنا العزيزة.

Behind this number are millions of stories of pain, silence, and resilience. As future healthcare professionals, we have a vital role to play in ending this practice—through education, advocacy, and compassionate care.

Let’s break the silence, challenge harmful traditions, and stand up for health, dignity, and human rights. Join us in our upcoming activity “From Harm to Hope: Fighting FGM” to learn more and become better advocates for change!
