Between August 22-24, the last Meeting of the European project EARLYDEM-Training of caregivers on early identification and diagnosis support of dementia (Erasmus+ KA2) took place at Lund University, Sweden. The duration of the program was from October 2019 to August 2022 with partners organizations from Sweden, Greece, Italy and France participated, including the Frodizo association.
The purpose of the project was to create an e-learning platform for training formal/informal caregivers of older people on the early diagnosis of dementia and mild mental disorder. The platform as well as the app for mobiles and tablets are now completed and anyone can use it any language of the partners organizations.

Last week the second Mutliplier Event in Italy, held by ISRAA, took place in Treviso: it was an excellent opportunity to share the road so far with professionals and associations! 🙌

We collected good and positive feedbacks and many committed to spread the word regarding the national version of the platform, in order to help people struggling with cognitive decline and raise awarness regarding the importance of a timely diagnosis and intervention!

We will introduce you the coordinator of the EarlyDem Consortium:

Lund University

The research group Participation, Ageing and Everyday life at the Department of Health Science, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University is headed by associate professor Malmgren Fänge. She is currently heading and co-heading projects related to dementia, caring, technology and learning. She is also heading projects related to the home situation among people with disabilities. All projects target the persons with dementia themselves, their significant others and the professionals providing care and services, with special foci on technology, evaluation and learning. Seven persons are paid staff and the group also involves students on advanced and PhD levels. Dr Lethin is also affiliated to the Memory Clinic at Skåne University Hospital, involved in research as well as clinical practice as nurse.
The Department of Health Science and the research group are experiences in research as well as research administration, providing excellent support to project coordinators and principal investigators. Associate professor Malmgren Fänge is a registered occupational therapist with experience from people with brain injuries and diseases, especially interventions in their home situation. She is also a teacher and director of the master of medical science program at Lund University, thus having expertise in adult education and training. Several projects related to the proposed projects are headed by Malmgren Fänge. Dr Connie Lethin is a registered nurse, involved in research and clinical practice for people with dementia. She has long experience of working with people with dementia and their significant others. Both researchers have published papers applying different methodologies and both are closely involved in the development of novel teaching and learning methodologies involving digital technology.

EARLYDEM project

The main objective of the EARLYDEM project is to develop an open interactive e-learning platform on early identification of mild cognitive impairment and dementia and to support training of formal and informal caregivers of older people.

The project is funded within the European Erasmus+ programme. It is coordinated by Lund University, with in total six partners from France, Greece, Italy and Sweden.
