Being creative with how we enjoy our Hawker food (and still stay healthy!) 🇸🇬🥢
I’ve always believed that how we handle the small, daily things says a lot about how we approach everything else. 🧠✨
Today’s reflection was just about lunch for myself and two family members. We all love our Hawker staples, but they often come with a huge portion of rice—sometimes 80% to 90% of the packet.
While it's delicious, it’s a bit much for most of us if we want to follow the WHO "Quarter Plate" rule and stay productive for the afternoon. 🍚📉
Instead of just going with the "default," I’ve started thinking a bit more actively about how to make our meals work better for us:
• The 2-for-3 Strategy: I bought two packets of rice for the three of us. By redistributing the portions, everyone got a healthier amount of carbs, and we had zero rice wastage. 🤝⚖️
• The 12-Minute Workflow: I’m quite protective of my time, so I used high-quality, pre-marinated frozen chicken breasts. It skips the long defrosting and marinating process while still being a great protein source. 🍗⏱️
• Parallel Processing: While the air fryer ran for 12 minutes, I blanched some greens in 5. Total active time: Just 12 minutes! 🥦🔥
For me, this isn’t just about the meal itself. It’s about the habit of intentionality—not just accepting what’s handed to us, but designing a better way to use our time, our health, and our resources. 🎯
It’s these small, strategic shifts in our daily habits that eventually lead to much bigger results. 🚀
I know I’m not the only one who looks at daily routines through this lens. It’s always encouraging to know there are others out there looking for those small ways to stay intentional in the everyday. 😊🙌
