🏋️ Exercise Spotlight: Barbell Deadlift 🏋️

The Barbell Deadlift is a powerful full-body movement that primarily targets the glutes, quads, hamstrings, and erector spinae, making it an excellent choice for building both strength and muscle mass.

Join Jeremy as we explore this exercise in our .

✅ Key Takeaways:
Form Check 1: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, positioning the barbell over the middle of your foot.
Form Check 2: Engage your lats by pulling your elbows back.
Form Check 3: Ensure your core is braced!

Once your form is perfected, take a deep breath and push the floor away as you lift the barbell, keeping it close to your body. To lower the bar, hinge at your hips while maintaining that close proximity as you set the weight down.

The Barbell Deadlift closely resembles movements you perform in daily life, so enhancing your strength in this exercise can significantly reduce your risk of injury.

Not an escape from life.

Just a space to move.
To breathe.
To get stronger — physically and mentally.

Movement doesn’t solve everything.
But it builds resilience.
Regulates stress.
Restores confidence.

For many of us,
this is part of the healing.

Sometimes the best therapy
is simply showing up and lifting anyway. 🌟

From our team to you —

May this year bring you
better balance,
stronger bodies,
and quieter, steadier minds 🧘‍♀️

Eat well.
Laugh loudly.
Move often.
& Rest well.

💪🏻 Meet Our Trainer: Gina 💪🏻

Gina’s fitness journey began on the netball court in secondary school. Growing up, she often struggled with self-confidence, partly due to living with eczema and feeling self-conscious in social and sports settings. The pressure to fit in even led her to take extreme measures to lose weight, which taught her firsthand the challenges of unhealthy approaches to fitness. Over time, through sports and later weightlifting, she learned how breaking big goals into small, achievable steps could build lasting confidence.

Today, that mindset shapes the way she coaches. Gina believes movement is a tool for mental resilience, clarity, and self-belief. She is passionate about helping people build strong foundations physically and mentally so they can work towards future goals with confidence.

Gina is also dedicated to empowering women, inspired in part by growing up in a culture where women were often expected to take on traditional domestic roles. Holding pre- and post-natal certifications, she guides clients safely through all stages of motherhood while also supporting men and women of all backgrounds in becoming stronger, fitter, and more confident in their everyday lives.

💪🏻 Meet Our Trainer: Wei Xiang 💪🏻

Wei Xiang’s fitness journey began during his polytechnic years and National Service, when he casually balanced running and gym sessions. Seeking better ways, Wei Xiang began learning about structured training through books, podcasts, and content created by accredited medical professionals and personal trainers. He discovered the importance of nutrition, sleep, and recovery, and started applying these principles to his own routine. He designed a training program that fit his shift work as well as his family and social commitments. Through this balanced and consistent approach, he began feeling better at work and at home and improved steadily in both gym performance and endurance sports such as half marathons and Ironman 70.3 races.

Today, as an NCSF certified personal trainer, Wei Xiang is dedicated to helping clients build healthy and sustainable habits. His focus is to guide individuals toward long-term consistency in their health and fitness goals while enabling them to manage the demands of work, family, and daily life.

New year goals are a great place to begin.
But what makes them last is how you approach them.

At Cornerstone, we don’t believe in diets, fear, or quick fixes.
We believe in understanding your body, building strength that supports your life, and creating habits you can actually sustain.

That means looking beyond workouts —
at pain patterns, recovery and sleep, nutrition gaps, hormonal health, and what your body has been through.

Because your body isn’t a problem to fix.
It’s a story to listen to.

If you’re ready to take care of your health but don’t know where to start, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
We’re here to walk with you — safely, comfortably, and at your pace. 💛
