It is a treat to hear experiences of wellbeing from my students. We all have our own language to describe an experience.

‘I feel euphoric during Sitali’ my student announced today…as though he experienced more than he expected.

I just smiled and thought, that’s a jackpot moment.

Some students come to me with specific goals and find many more benefits in the process.

I encourage men, like women who shy away from yogic practices, to learn pranayama to cultivate internal steadiness.

Self practice is raw, internal and empowering that no one experiences but you.

In this pose I am enjoying the gaze of presence while knowing very well that my body has changed…and continuing to shift…for the better

The joy is not in the achievement but rather seeing things come together to a place of natural, stable lightness.

Why is Pranayama transformstive?

If we wake up every morning with our fears and our courage, fears have a greater pull on the mind at first. We practice pranayama to come to a place of presence.

Presence fuels our courage and drowns our fears.

Courage doesn’t entertain excuses when it gains strength.

Transformation is never overnight but flows like drops of nectar over time.

So learn with precision, practice regularly and not seasonally to be in process of becoming.

Why pranayama and not a pill for mental wellbeing?

Because in life’s most crucial moments, you need ‘presence of mind’ to be in the drivers seat.

Because pharmaceutical drugs do not clean up the debris from the nerves from the onslaught of stress. Breath is designed to clean house and reset the nervous system.

Because eventually pharmaceutical drugs tax our liver much like other toxins.

‘The impact of Pranayama’ Practice and Discussion with Dr Sri O P Tiwari Ji.

At 92 years now, Tiwari Ji continues to find ways of being there for his students. Having studied with him over 15 years, it is a privilege to assist him in the upcoming workshop.

Pranayama for me has been life changing in all aspects of my being…mind, body and spirit. Being a Holistic Health teacher, the understanding of yoga as a process of healing has come from being a regular practitioner of asana and even more importantly, Pranayama. Those are the tools that unfold the transformation within.

Where Asana supports the stability and flexibility of the body, pranayama trains the mind. Nothing comes overnight and without proper guidance. So then it becomes a matter of consistency of practice. These practices are experiential in nature, meaning they go beyond cerebral information and inform every cell of the body.
