Recently, some children who were prescribed special myopia management lenses were instead given ordinary single vision lenses, putting them at risk of long-term eye complications. The OOB has issued a warning to practitioners and reminded parents to stay vigilant.
Here’s what parents should watch out for:
✅ Check that the lenses match the prescription, substitutions should be clearly explained
✅ Ensure your provider has a management plan with follow-ups
✅ Buy from licensed providers registered with the OOB
✅ Ask about alternatives if the recommended lenses are not available
👀 Protect your child’s vision, being informed is the first step!
