🌈 Learning to Name and Understand Emotions 🌈
In our recent social skills workshop, primary school students explored their feelings using Feeling Cards. These cards are a simple yet powerful tool—each one with a visual that makes emotions easier to identify, understand, and talk about.
For many children, putting emotions into words can feel overwhelming. But when they hold a card and see a picture that matches how they feel, something clicks—they realise “That’s me right now!”
💡 Why does this matter?
When students learn to recognise and express their emotions:
✔️ They begin to understand that all feelings are valid.
✔️ They develop empathy by seeing that others feel the same way too.
✔️ They learn strategies to manage emotions instead of being controlled by them.
These small steps build a strong foundation for resilience, empathy, and healthier relationships. Every card becomes a doorway to self-awareness—and every conversation helps them realise they are not alone in their feelings. 💖
