Optometry is a health care profession which involves examining the eyes and visual systems for defects or abnormalities as well as the medical diagnosis and management of eye disease. Traditionally, the field of optometry began with the primary focus of correcting refractive error through the use of spectacles and contact lenses. Modern day optometry has evolved to include intensive medical training in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease such as Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, Cataract, etc. “I want to wake up to a day when people know what Primary Eye Care can do to improve their lives. There are many preventable sight-threatening conditions and many are not aware about it. I have set out on this journey to advocate the importance of a comprehensive eye examination and to save the sight of as many people as possible.
