This support enables us to collaborate across countries and disciplines to advance innovative, technology-enhanced education. Through PROGRESSION, we are developing and evaluating immersive Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) learning experiences designed to improve spatial understanding of complex physiological processes in midwifery education.

🌍 PROGRESSION at IHSOS Forum 2025

The PROGRESSION project was presented at the IHSOS Forum 2025, an international platform connecting health, social sciences and humanitarian perspectives.

With a focus on trauma, resilience and equity, PROGRESSION showcased how AR/VR technologies can transform midwifery education and strengthen competencies in maternal and perinatal care.

Proud to be part of a truly global and interdisciplinary dialogue shaping the future of healthcare education.

We presented the project PROGRESSION at the Congress of the Czech Chamber of Midwives held in Ostrava. It was very inspiring because we were able to discuss about the application of the project in study programs.

🌍 PROGRESSION is spreading worldwide! 🚀

This year, our EU-funded project PROGRESSION—which aims to transform midwifery education through Virtual and Augmented Reality—has been making waves at conferences across the globe!

We kicked off the year at Kindernotfalltage 2025 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany) with a presentation on innovative educational methods. In April, we presented at ICSME 2025 in Irbid (Jordan), and May was packed with four conferences:

🚀 Exciting Milestone Achieved!
The VR study phase of Project Progression is officially complete! 💪

Conducted under Work Package 4, led by the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto, this study was carried out across simulation centres at ESEP Enfermagem Porto, Katholische Stiftungshochschule München, and Masaryk University - Faculty Of Medicine.
Drawing from this study, we've submitted an abstract with preliminary results to Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) 2025 conference: "Impact of Virtual Reality-Based Training on Midwifery Students’ Knowledge of Maternal Positioning During Labour: A Pre-Post Study".
PROGRESSION Team is proud of this important step toward innovation on health education through immersive technologies.

📚 On May 4th, we presented our PROGRESSION project at HebaPäd, a German conference for educators in midwifery science.
The attending midwives showed great interest in the project and are looking forward to receiving the results in May 2026.
