🚼 Indications for C-Section: When is a Cesarean Needed? 🤰
A C-section (Cesarean delivery) is a surgical procedure used to safely deliver a baby when a vaginal birth may pose risks to the mother or baby. Here are the common reasons a C-section may be necessary:
🔹 Fetal distress – Baby’s heart rate drops, showing signs of distress.
🔹 Prolonged labor – Labor is not progressing despite strong contractions.
🔹 Breech or abnormal position – Baby is feet-first, sideways, or in a risky position.
🔹 Placenta previa – Placenta is blocking the cervix, preventing safe vaginal delivery.
🔹 Multiple pregnancies – Carrying twins, triplets, or more may require a C-section.
🔹 Previous C-section – Some moms with a prior C-section may need another.
🔹 Cord prolapse – Umbilical cord slips through the cervix before the baby.
🔹 Maternal health conditions – High blood pressure, heart disease, or infections like HIV.
A C-section can be planned (elective) or emergency, depending on the situation. Talk to your doctor about the best delivery option for you and your baby! 💙
