Aweil Health Sciences Institute has proudly recognizes and appreciates the outstanding commitment demonstrated by its staff and students who voluntarily donated blood to support anaemic patients at Aweil State Hospital.

This humanitarian initiative reflects the Institute’s core mission of promoting excellence in health sciences education, community service, and professional responsibility. The timely blood donation directly contributed to the stabilization and management of patients suffering from anaemia, a condition that requires urgent and adequate blood transfusion support.
The administration commends the staff and students for their compassion, teamwork, and dedication to saving lives. Their actions exemplify the ethical values and clinical responsibility expected of future and practicing healthcare professionals.
Aweil Health Sciences Institute remains committed to strengthening collaboration with Aweil State Hospital including MSF-F and continuing community-oriented health interventions that positively impact the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

Exciting Update from Aweil Health Sciences Institute!

Today, the principal of Aweil Health Sciences Institute, Mr. Marko Adim Wieu accompanied by head of midwifery department officially announced the operationalization of the Aweil Health Sciences Institute library following the successful completion of the construction.This milestone marks a significant step forward in enhancing our academic resources and supporting our students' learning journeys.
The library will provide access to a wide range of medical books and research materials, creating an enriching environment for study and research. We believe this initiative will empower our students to excel in their academic pursuits.We invite all student to explore the new library and take full advantage of its resources.
A heartfelt thank to our principal for being instrumental in bringing this vision to life.

Meet our newly graduates of midwifery class of 2025 Achol Garang and Ahok Yach who performs well in health qualifying exams demonstrates strong understanding of core health sciences, clinical concepts, and evidence-based practices. They show good analytical and problem-solving skills, apply theoretical knowledge accurately to practical scenarios, and maintain consistency in study habits.

Such a students are disciplined, motivated, attentive to detail, and able to manage time effectively, reflecting readiness for professional training and future responsibilities in the health.

Now ready to apply the midwifery knowledge to mothers and newborn across Northern Bahr El Ghazal and beyond.

The Minister Visits Aweil Health Sciences Institute to Mark the End of Academic Year 2025

The state Minister of Health Dr. Riny Riny with Specialized committee from State Parliament and Director General in state ministry of health Dr. Malong paid a special visit to Aweil Health Sciences Institute on Friday, 19th 2025 as the institution marked the end of the academic year 2025, an event that brought together students, tutors in celebration of learning and achievement. The visit highlighted the government’s continued commitment to improving the quality of health and supporting health facilities across the state.

During the event, the minister congratulated students for their hard work and perseverance throughout the year, noting that education remains the foundation for national development. Special recognition was given to outstanding students and dedicated tutors whose efforts contributed to the school’s academic success.

The minister also encouraged learners to use the holiday period productively by reading, practicing skills in the health facilities wherever they will be, maintaining discipline, medical ethics and professionalism.
Addressing tutors and school administrators, the minister praised their commitment despite challenges and emphasized the importance of professionalism, innovation, and collaboration in Health delivery. He reaffirmed the ministry’s plans to strengthen institute, improve learning facilities, and ensure a conducive environment for both teaching and learning.

The school administration headed by Principal tutor Marko Adim Wieu expressed gratitude for the visit, describing it as a motivation to both staff and students. The event concluded with a tour of the school facilities by Minister to inspect the ongoing construction of Library and skill lab symbolizing a positive end to the academic year and renewed hope for even greater achievements in the coming year.

A midwife is a healthcare professional who provides care to women during pregnancy, childbirth, and after delivery. Her key responsibilities include:

🌸 During Pregnancy ✔️ Examine and follow up pregnant women
✔️ Monitor mother and fetal health
✔️ Provide advice on nutrition, medications, and precautions
✔️ Identify danger signs and refer to a doctor when needed

🤱 During Labor ✔️ Conduct normal (natural) deliveries
✔️ Help manage labor pain
✔️ Ensure safety of both mother and baby
✔️ Provide emergency care and timely referral

👶 After Delivery (Postpartum) ✔️ Monitor bleeding and infections
✔️ Provide essential newborn care
✔️ Guide and support breastfeeding

Information to students who sat for National Qualifying exams in November 2025:

1. You are hereby informed that the national examination board has released the results.
2. Those who cleared their final dues can access their results at the academic office at Aweil Health Sciences Institute from 1:30 PM tomorrow 10th December, 2025 onwards
3. Those with outstanding balances shall not be able to access results and should plan to clear as soon as possible.
