SSUJ SHORT AND LONG TERM PROJECTS / PROGRAMS / ACTIVITIES:
1. Press Freedom Campaign ( The first activity curried out by the UNION to lobby for funds from well-wishers and partner institutions/organization and Government for its facilitation scheduled on 7th August 2010), This campaign is seen by the union as only way of encouraging the freedom of the press.
2. Southern Sudan Rural area media network (SSRAM), a project to the ; (Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture, thus requesting them to fund a coverage of about 15 journalists members of union, who shall carry research on specific items , do interviews and find out the needs of local people in the remotest areas , children, women, elders chiefs and farmers per States so that the Government and ministries to address this issues accordingly, the information shall be put in a data system and others shall be published in print and radiobroadcasters in local languages.
4. Designing and produce Southern Sudan legal Press ID cards in conjunction with the Ministry of information (A sketch or draft is already drawn in place before the referendum to attract other members and interested parties for their registration the UNION’s recognition) the him self will have an approval before it starts members must just be happy ready.
Establish Journalism School. (school clubs have started eg. the Juba Day , more Project will come up and will be be forwarded to Government - Min. of Higher Education and Min of Information and Broad casting, World Bank, MDTF, DFID, Abroad Donors, etc with all the necessary documents attached like the certificates of various partners/stakeholders that are supporting the project, Project Building Plan and the Curriculum Structure, Position of Land Title certificates, etc)
Establish Journalism Library, SSUJ as soon as it establish well it will stock a good libary and even write Project Proposal to be forwarded to Government - Min. of Higher Education and Min of Information and Broad casting, World Bank, MDTF, DFID, Abroad Donors, Well-wishers, etc with all the necessary documents attached like the certificates of various partners/stakeholders that are supporting the project, Project Building Plan and the Curriculum Structure, Position of Land Title certificates, etc),
5. Establish SSUJ MAGAZINE; (this is the only source of fund of the union, SSUJ is working hard to get capital for the start of the Project but also proposal and other ways shall be worked out to get funds even starting by going out to the clients to boost
6. Produce Union T-shirts and other publications , the union has produceed only three T-shirts (samples) from Nirrobi and is lobbing fuunds to produce 500 more , caps , banners posters , Sign post.
7. transportation system; the Union is Lobbing for car donation otherwise its members have been hindered by this difficulty although other things it needs to have includes SSUJ Printing Press, Hold media conferences, SSUJ website
