Nurses and Midwives Bill 2025 Approved

The Council of Ministers, chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit, has approved the Nurses and Midwives Bill 2025 with amendments. This approval marks a significant step toward enhancing the regulation of the healthcare system and improving maternal healthcare services in South Sudan.

The Bill was presented by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Michael Makuei Lueth, who emphasized its importance in creating a structured and accountable legal framework for nursing and midwifery professions in the country.

Following extensive deliberations, Information Minister Ateny Wek Ateny announced that the Bill received full approval from the Council of Ministers. The Bill will now be forwarded to the National Legislative Assembly for further debate and final ratification.

Officials described the Nurses and Midwives Bill as a crucial legislative milestone that goes beyond mere regulation. It is expected to significantly improve healthcare delivery and the well-being of mothers and children across South Sudan.
