to create awareness on this health challenging Disease yet preventable and treatable

💔 44 million lives lost — and HIV is still not over.

HIV remains one of the world’s biggest health challenges.

Here’s what you should know:

🦠 HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system and is spread from body fluids of an infected person.

🤒 Symptoms of HIV vary, some may have flu-like illness including fever, headache, rash and sore throat.

⚠️ AIDS occurs at the most advanced stage of HIV infection.

🌍 About 40.8 million people worldwide are living with HIV.

⚕️ While there’s no cure, HIV can be prevented and treated.

Reduce the risk of HIV by:

🛡️ Using condoms

🩸 Testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections

✂️ Choosing medical male circumcision

💉 Getting safe help if you inject and use drugs

💊 Taking pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medicine as an additional prevention option

This World AIDS Day, let’s raise awareness of HIV and support access to prevention, treatment, and care for all.

🌿 “Typhoid and Malaria Are Not Brothers!” 🌿

At POKI Advanced Medical Clinic, Kator – Juba, we’ve heard many patients say “Typhoid and malaria always come together.”
But that’s a common misconception! ❌

🦠 Malaria is caused by a parasite (Plasmodium) transmitted through the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito.
🍽️ Typhoid, on the other hand, is caused by bacteria (Salmonella typhi) and spreads through contaminated food or water.

Yes, both can cause fever, weakness, headache, and body pains, but they are two different diseases with different causes and treatments.

💡 Being diagnosed with malaria doesn’t automatically mean you also have typhoid!
That’s why at POKI Advanced Medical Clinic, we emphasize proper lab testing before treatment, to avoid misdiagnosis and ensure quick recovery.

The client asked this 👇👇👇👇

🩺 Can Paracetamol Hide Malaria Parasites During a Test?

Many patients worry that taking paracetamol (Panadol) before a malaria test can “hide” or “cover up” malaria.
👉 The answer is NO — paracetamol does not hide malaria parasites.

Here’s why:

Paracetamol only helps to reduce fever and pain.
It does not kill or affect the malaria parasites in your blood.
When the lab tests your blood (using malaria rapid test or microscopy), the parasites can still be seen if they are present.

However, paracetamol can lower your fever temporarily, making you feel better for a short while — but the infection may still be there. That’s why some people mistakenly think the drug “hid” the malaria.

💡 Key point:
If you have fever, body weakness, headache, or chills — even if you already took paracetamol — you should still do a malaria test. Only a blood test can confirm malaria.

✅ Take-home message:
Paracetamol does not hide malaria, it only hides the symptoms. Always test and treat the real cause — not just the fever!

🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Message from POKI Advanced Medical Clinic – Kator, Juba, South Sudan 🎀

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide — and it is also one of the most treatable when detected early. 🌸

This month of October we join the world in creating awareness on breast cancer.

What is Breast cancer? when the cells in the breast grow abnormally and form a lump or mass. It can affect both women and, though rarely, men. Early stages often show no pain, making regular screening and self-examination vital.

Common Warning Signs:
🔹 A lump or thickening in the breast or underarm
🔹 Changes in the size or shape of the breast
🔹 Dimpling or puckering of the skin
🔹 Ni**le discharge (especially if bloody)
🔹 Changes in the color or texture of the breast or ni**le

Risk Factors Include:
⚪ Family history of breast cancer
⚪ Being over the age of 40
⚪ Obesity and lack of exercise
⚪ Alcohol consumption
⚪ Early menstruation or late menopause

Prevention and Early Detection:
✅ Perform regular self-breast examinations— once a month
✅ Go for clinical breast check-ups and mammograms as advised
✅ Maintain a healthy lifestyle — eat well, exercise, and avoid alcohol and smoking
✅ Seek medical help immediately if you notice any abnormal changes

At POKI Advanced Medical Clinic, we care about your health and wellbeing. Our medical team is available to provide breast examinations, counseling, and guidance on early detection and prevention.

💗 Remember: Early detection saves lives! Don’t wait for symptoms — take charge of your health today.

🌊 The Healing Power of Water: Why Your Body Can’t Do Without It 🌊

Water is often called the elixir of life, and for good reason. Every single cell in your body depends on water to function properly. At Poki Advanced Medical Clinic, we encourage you to make water a part of your daily health routine — because staying hydrated is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to stay healthy.

💧 1. Boosts Energy and Brain Function
Feeling tired or struggling to concentrate? Dehydration can slow down your thinking, cause headaches, and reduce productivity. Drinking water helps your brain stay sharp and your body energized.

💧 2. Improves Digestion and Detoxification
Water is vital for digestion — it helps break down food, absorb nutrients, and move waste out of the body. Staying hydrated also supports your kidneys in flushing out harmful toxins.

💧 3. Protects Joints and Muscles
Think of water as your body’s natural lubricant. It cushions your joints, keeps your muscles flexible, and reduces the risk of cramps, especially during exercise or physical work.

💧 4. Supports Healthy Skin
Dehydration shows on your skin. Drinking enough water keeps your skin hydrated, giving it a natural glow and slowing down signs of aging.

💧 5. Regulates Body Temperature
Whether it’s a hot day in Juba or you’re exercising, water helps your body stay cool by regulating temperature through sweating.

👉 How much water should you drink?
On average, aim for at least 8 glasses (about 2 liters) per day. However, your body may need more if you’re physically active, breastfeeding, or living in hot conditions.

✨ Healthy Tip from Poki Advanced Medical Clinic:
Carry a water bottle wherever you go, and sip frequently. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty — thirst is already a sign that your body is running low on water.

At Poki Advanced Medical Clinic, we believe small daily habits lead to big health benefits. Start with water — your body will thank you
