When buying drug/medicine to your pregnant babe. Please be careful, there are some drugs not used at some trimesters of pregnancy.
Ask the dispenser, which pregnancy category is the drug? There are 5 pregnancy drugs categories (A,B,C,D & X).
Don't buy drugs under pregnancy category X.
Pregnancy Category Definition
Category A. Generally acceptable, (Just brief explanation).
Category B. May be acceptable, (Just brief explanation).
Category C. Use with caution if benefits outweigh risks, (Just brief explanation)
Category D. Use in LIFE-THREATENING emergencies when no safer drug available.
Category X. Do not use in pregnancy. Risks involved outweigh potential benefits.
Before buying drug to your lovely pregnant babe, ask the following questions to anyone dispensing drugs in pharmacy!
1. Which pregnancy category is this drug?
2. Which trimester can this drug be used?
3. Which trimester can this drug not be used?
Note: Trimester means period of 3 months. There are 3 trimesters in pregnancy. A safer drug in first trimester maybe dangerous in second trimester, likewise to third trimester.
