We were born without a sister — just our mother and three boys.

As the eldest son, I learned early how to cook, fetch water, and take care of the cows. I carried responsibilities that many believe are meant for daughters.

In our tradition, girls are often seen as the caring pillars of the family — bringing cows through marriage, building homes, and providing special support to their mothers.

But at this stage, I believe our beloved mother will never regret not having a biological daughter.

We, her sons, will continue to stand in that place.
We will make sure she sleeps peacefully in a good tukul.
We will provide whatever she needs.
We will honor her with our actions, not just words.
