Joint security forces deployed to Warrap, Mayom to enforce State of Emergency

A combined security force comprising the South Sudan People's Defense Forces (SSPDF), National Security Service (NSS), and the South Sudan National Police Service has today departed for Warrap State and Mayom County in Unity State.

The deployment follows President Salva Kiir Mayardit's recent declaration of a six-month state of emergency in the Warrap and Mayom, aimed at restoring peace, law, and order following continued insecurity and unrest caused by theft and inter-communal conflicts.

According to security officials, the joint operation will focus on stabilizing the affected areas, ensuring the protection of civilians, and creating conditions conducive for long-term peace and development.

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and protecting the lives and property of all South Sudanese citizens, particularly in conflict-prone areas.
